Quote (RavenLalonde @ 13th March 2014 19:55) I have not noticed this; but, then, I am no musician. My brother is, though, and he has never remarked on it. The Decisive Battle - SNES The Decisive Battle - GBA Compare these two; pay close attention at the 26 second mark. The notes that are played in the GBA version are not the right notes. They aren't off-key, necessarily, but just a completely ass-pulled melody. It makes me wince every time I hear it. Perhaps I'm just being too picky. -------------------- X is blue. |

I think that they used different "instruments" or sounds that are very off-putting. Most likely they did that because of technical limitations. I agree though, it's kind of grating in the GBA version. -------------------- |

They did use different instruments; the SNES melody instrument has a very strong fifth (or twelth?) overtone, while the GBA one doesn't.
Still, I never even noticed that those two melodies were different. Nice catch. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. You can find me on the Fediverse! Tone down the encounter rate a bit. Not by too much but it feels like I can't take more than three steps without being lumped into another battle. Kinda takes the fun out of exploring for me.

Cut down on the number of Rages. There are far too many to catch and at least half of them are just Attack and Boring Special Attack Name

That's a great point, I think maybe 10-15 rages seems like a reasonable number.
I think that Rages, Dances and Lore, should probably be gained over levels as well rather than having to encounter specific enemies. This would reduce hassle on the player's part, and make the game more balanced from a statregic point, but the downside/upsetting point being that it's not as flavorful or thematic from a story standpoint. Personally I think the game is more important than the story in this regard though, as learning rages/lores mainly relates to the battle system which is basically the game/strategy part of FF6 and it would not impact the story much at all.
