Just want to give a big shout out and hello to everyone here.
Hi my Name's Jurst but ya can call me Rev, I'm new here and I look forward to meeting Y'all. I am kind of torn, I actually got a new job and have to stop playing FFVI for a few days. I've been playing it for the last 2 weeks and have not been able to put it down. I have been playing the PSX version "anthology" via PSP and it's my favorite way to play it thus far. (The controller and the screen being in one place and all.) What's your favorite way to play? (laying down to play for hours is another benefit of the psp, that's how i'd opt.) I look forward to Greeting Y'all, Love Rev. This post has been edited by ReverendXIII on 14th August 2013 05:06 -------------------- I prefer the term "treasure hunting"! |

No need to get hasty, as the Ents say. Welcome to the caves. I feel like ffVI has had a serious boom in popularity lately..

The first thing's first. Somebody needs to draw Red XIII in either clerical garments or a white mage (A.K.A. priest in some games like F.F.T.) hooded robes stat.
Also, while I can't speak for all of my fellow CoNpatriots directly, allow me to provide a bit of speculation in addition to what was said above. If you go back to this subforum's page, you'll note all of the topics here have more views than replies, sometimes by a considerable percentage so I doubt it's really anything against you or newcomers generally. Rather, I'd guess people try to reserve comment for when they actually have something to say. Even if Greetings isn't exactly the place for lengthy verbose conversation, that can still be difficult, since little is relevant to a greeting other than a like response, game conversation is generally reserved for the relevant subforum and as a result, making up something clever enough to be worth posting here is somewhat difficult. Not to mention if I recall correctly, I think the forums are slower than they once were, I think? I'm not sure about that entirely but I vaguely recollect hearing something of the sort. What I can say with certainty however, is that I personally look at a topic, think hard about what to say and then end up just scrapping it into my personal archives 'cause I'm unsatisfied with it. I often can't think of the precise words I'd want to convey a message, especially with any sort of conciseness and sometimes it just seems like an inappropriate response, when I don't mean it that way... Anyway, welcome, welcome and I hope you decide to stick around at least for long enough to get a feel for how the community works and deciding if it's worth your time. If nothing else, a lot of the time it's nice to just get a nicely constructed opinion out there. Also if not only to answer your question, judging from my experience with the Playstation version of Anthology, I think I prefer playing Final Fantasy VI with an actual S.N.E.S. since otherwise, the musical timbre sounds way to far off for some reason. Cheap sounding near polyphonic synthesis isn't the only defining quality of a chip-tune I suppose. Perhaps it's just a familiarity bias, especially since FF V didn't seem to bug me, however I'd also guess of effort goes into perfecting the music as much as possible given the limitations of the platform, so lazily emulating it on another platform puts it off kilter from the originally intended sound. I like laying down too B.T.W. although I have a TV in my room for that. Anyway, see you 'round later Rev. XIII ... or maybe not. (You've already suggested you've already given up on this place and I'm not exactly the most active of members around here at least for the time being either on top of that, possibly making this a waste o' timez, ehehe... ![]() -------------------- |

Surprising lack of trolls, yet good sense of style and humor. I love it here as well Rave. -------------------- I prefer the term "treasure hunting"! |

I've loved it and am revisiting, finding that I love it even more. I can say that i am surprising my self . I was obsessed with nothing but Dragon Quest. VI and IX most notably. Some how FFVI managed to magically appear to me one day in the most auspicious cleaning of my moms game room ever. I've been playing that mother ever since. -------------------- I prefer the term "treasure hunting"! |

Anyway thanks and hello again ![]() I'd just like to state that my late and great Grandma (dad's mom. She's great not she is my great.) who is from england was a huge rangers fan. I actually paid close attention to this one season when i was a kid. A season where they lost almost every game. ![]() I won four tickets, I went to a game and they actually won that time, it was a great first hand experience. (although if you have no idea what i'm talking about, your name has nothing to do with the baseball team, and i will look silly. ![]() -------------------- I prefer the term "treasure hunting"! |

For what it's worth, I kind of wasn't kidding about the double posting, we don't actually allow people to boost their postcount by posting repeatedly in the same thread. Doesn't really matter here since this forum doesn't add to postcount, but it's worth keeping in mind as it's been happening more of late.
![]() Glad to hear you didn't bail, though! And my nickname has nothing to do with the Scottish football club, though that's a common misconcpetion. ![]() This post has been edited by Rangers51 on 16th August 2013 11:33 -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

Oh no. I was referring to the Texas baseball team. She was originally from England but married my grandfather and moved to Texas after WWII. I see how that could be confusing.

In answer to your question, I am partial to the original SNES version.
