This might sound challenging for some but believe me it was all due to laziness and age. The lowest level I had beaten this game was level 24. How about yourself?

To explain my situation I first played this game when I was eight or nine. I had rented it for six months straight until someone finally broke the game at the video game store and my parents figured it's about time to buy the game for him. I used to play with other peoples saves just role playing and literally exploring. I had not learned how to really play so any new game I had let's just say I got as far as Vargas and that was it.

So when I finally got the game I learned how to use Relics which was my huge problem. However, I was impatient for battles so I only battled if I had to. Let's just say once the World of Balance was completed my highest leveled character was 9.

My main three characters were Edgar, Sabin and sadly Gau. One battle due to my level I couldn't beat with any luck and that was Air Force. However, Gau had one Rage that allowed him to caste Life 3 needless to say this was an hour battle of him casting life 3 on himself and rarely hitting.

Honestly, I do not know how I really did it. I think running away made the game harder than what it had to be playing it now but god does this bring back some good memories.

I remember when I first laid eyes on the thing. I was at my friend Robbie's house, and of course, we, being American kids, didn't have any idea that we were playing the sixth game in the series. Everything we knew about Final Fantasy as it currently stood, our frame of reference, was Final Fantasy 4 (which we thought of as Final Fantasy 2).

Robbie was up to right after the fall of Doma, and we were just kind of going around fighting monsters. Robbie had a thing about never running from battles and level grinding a lot (industrious guy that he was), so Sabin was level 15 already. It was at this point that my contribution to our gaming experience occurred.

See, I started reading the manual while Robbie was playing, and through reading, figured out that Sabin had more than just the "Pummel" technique (we were amazed that it didn't cost MP to use it). I discovered that Sabin had a technique called "Fire Dance," and explained how to do it to Robbie. And at that moment, the awesomeness of Final Fantasy '3' made itself known to our adolescent minds.

We played a little further into the game from there, whenever I would come over, and got up to right after the Opera Scene. It was at that point that Robbie moved to a new house in a new town, and I didn't get to go over there much anymore.

The following Christmas, I received Final Fantasy '3' as a present. Shortly after the new year, I kicked my brother Richie in the teeth, and was cut on the foot. This cut got infected, and I was sick as a dog, and had to stay home from school.

This was the meat of my first playthrough. I remember being in so much pain that I could barely move, but my thumbs worked ok. smile.gif I didn't wait for Shadow, and upon getting the Strategy Guide (Nintendo Power!), was horrified to discover that there was now no way to get Shadow back; he was dead.

All in all, it's the most potent video gaming experience I ever remember having, right up there with the first time I played Super Mario Brothers. I must have been about Level 35-45 when I beat it.

I'm about to start a lowest-level game - the goal is to beat the game with all characters at level 6 or 7. I have made it all the way to the floating continent before while taking in the fewest exp possible (I had to in order to complete my perfect stats game) so I've almost done it once before.
