Probably.
At the very least, FFVI, CT, and Super Mario RPG are up there at the very top tier. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Quote (Glenn Magus Harvey @ 10th December 2012 19:26) Probably. At the very least, FFVI, CT, and Super Mario RPG are up there at the very top tier. For me, FFVI, Chrono Trigger, and Pokemon Blue are the top three. Actually, the whole top ten worked out very well for me. Most of my favorites from the retro period and the new gen. titles were there for me. Quote (UnderratedGamer) This is your opinion. Not fact, keep that in mind. One could name many faults about your list too. This is true, like mine and GMH's discussion. But I would say that our opinions are rooted in objective facts about the game and our experience. For instance, say I have "Video Game A." Maybe something about my experience caused me to say this. The games themselves, they are objective (using the world objective to mean that the game and its elements are not subjective like our experiences are). There are many reasons a game can make an indellible mark. The best way is probably just explain why you think it's the best story, or why you think laszlow's mistaken. -------------------- |

Yes, but you said this about Xenogears: Quote Xenogears really did have the best plot of ANY video game hands down. Put opinions aside, 'best' may not seem like the most fitting, but rather most 'developed'. And you can most definitely be the most developed by fact. Putting aside the mediocre gameplay and second disc, for its story ALONE it, should have skyrocketed to the top 10 by default. I... kinda thought that opinion ("put opinions aside") was a little over the top and wanted to comment. Didn't mean to make it sound like a personal attack, although I admit my language was a little harsh. I think that Xenogears was placed appropriately on IGN's list - I would also sling it in the 35-50 range. -------------------- |

^^ I still think that PBlue is too flawed to belong in the top ten, despite its vast legacy, because legacy shouldn't count.. But that's going by my book.

But that's going by my book. GMH: dem's fightin words! If too flawed means having a near-perfect battle system and maybe the only game that ever perfected collect-a-thon gaming, then it's really flawed. Actually, in all seriousness, I used to think that. That the other Pokemon games had bettered the system, and all the original had was legacy. But I went back and played it. I first, it was just nostalgia, but I noticed that the black and white art style, designs of the first 151 pokemon (which, to me, is far superior from the other gen.'s designs), and its simplicity still makes it a great game. There are flaws, but not too many. -------------------- |

FFVI is what I started with and continues to be one of my all time favorites, but FFT could have been higher- I mean I know it's considered a "cult classic," but in it's time it was one of the most elaborate RPGs on the market and was definitely the most elaborate RPG on a console. FFVII lost a lot of my love when they removed the allegory in the story about the world bleeding the planet dry of its life stream (fossil fuel) in Advent Children, so it can stay lower on that list.
