You know why FFVIII sucks? It's pretty much this: 'Hey, look here's a really tough boss that levels up as we level up. We can't use any items without having to equip GFs, so let's equip 'em. Oh, and while we're at it, let's Junction 50,000 HP and kill the thing.' If you ask me, that was one of the worst FF games ever, alongside X-2.

On a scale from 1-10, 1 being the hardest, 10 being the easiest...

Is it me or the Final Fantasy games gets easier and easier over time?

From hardest to easiest:

FFII
FFI (The original Nes version)
FF4 Hardtype (the original japanes version)
FF8
FF6 (Everything ahead from the World of Chaos is tough)
FF7 (raising chocobos is dificult, as well as a few fights, but even so i dont remember ever getting killed)
FFX (The easiest RPG I ever played, except for the final boss and the subquests)

Hardest to Easiest for me:
1. FFV and FFT (Tie) yikes they are hard
2.FFIV
3. FFX-2(Subquests can piss you off very easily, like the one for Thunder Plains in Chapter 3)
4. FFVII (Demons Gate Caused it mainly to be here...)

Oh my...
FFIII -It was pure evil on the NES, but great funs.
FFI (NES) -Earlier games are, the harder they seem, hm...
FFT -I adored the missions, but the real hard battles were the random ones... especially those around water falls.
FFV -Although you could choose classes, it was hard to have a team that could take out anything early on in the game.
FFIV -Demon Wall put it here for me too.
FFVI -Oddly, I didn't find it as tough on the PS as the ROM I had started playing...
FFVIII -Once I understood the system, it was a breeze, and got kinda' fun, but before that...
FFX -Seymour offered some tough battlage, but I guess I'm used to RPGs now, the Dark Aeons wern't really hard as I could face them whenever.
FFX2 -More the mini-games than the game that got me. Gunners Gauntlet = BAH! after the first New Game+.
FFIX -I found this game VERY restrictive to my teams, that annoyed me, so I guess I was a little rushed with it, so at lower levels.
FFVII -First FF I played, so a little tough, but easy enough for me not to think I couldn't do it.
FFTA -I can't say I've died once unless you count turning off cos I forgot a law.
FFII (PS1) -Too easy, even with little 'leveling', if you call it that...
FFI (PS1) -After the original, it was a breeze.
FFMQ -You can't die...at all...what's up with that?

The only FF games i played are from FF7-FFX-2, but i played alot of other RPG's like LOD Chrono Trigger Chrono Cross etc. but here goes

1. FF7 (my first RPG game, and my MOST fav, and my most challenging, and i still love it even more then my PS2)

2. FF10 ( challenging from the start, i used up all of my potions in the first part of the game )

3. FF X-2 ( same as FF10)

4. FF9 ( pretty easy if u ask me, although Necros was a pain in the ass)

5. FF8 (pff i can beat it with my eyes closed)

I played alot more RPG's then this, but this is FF only thread.... I wish i coulve played all of the FF's under 7 but i dont have the consoles **sigh**, FF1 sounds like a challenge wish i couldve played it **sigh again**

FF's 1-6 (with the exception of FF3j) were all ported to the PlayStation under the titles Final Fantasy Origins (includes FF1 and FF2), Final Fantasy Chronicles (includes FF4 and Chrono Trigger) and Final Fantasy Anthology (includes FF5 and FF6...and would be the one I personally recommend the most ). I take it you have a PS1 (or at least PS2), so you can still play them.

THE HOFF

Hardest to easiest...oy. Okay, I'm going to make this list and assume that I won't just play straight through. I'm going to beat all the option bosses, finish most of the minigames, etc.

---HARDEST---

- Final Fantasy Tactics gets my vote for hardest. You can't just mash the X button and watch your enemies fall over. No, they fight back. Any random encounter can end your game. You have to prepare for and think your way out of every battle. Unless you use Orlandu, of course.

- Final Fantasy X isn't far behind. I'm told the PAL version is beastly, and I own it, but I can't play it. As it stands, completing the Monster Arena is hard enough.

- Final Fantasy IX is easy...unless you try and beat Ozma. Then it becomes deathly serious. The 12-hour challenge, you're out of your mind.

- Final Fantasy X-2 goes...around here. Nothing really hard happens until you have to start fighting the Dark Aeons. My first time through, I hadn't found any Dresspheres, so I had to backtrack a bit. Oh, and the Via Infinito is hard as balls. Trema is an absolute nightmare.

- I guess Final Fantasy VII would fall in here. You really do have to prepare to beat the WEAPONS. You can't half-ass those battles. Sephiroth is difficult as well. There are also some hard bosses like Demon's Gate and the Turks under Midgar. I'm also bitter that I've never managed to master an Enemy Skill materia.

- Final Fantasy IV (Hardtype) is pretty difficult. Again, not much in the way of sidequests, but I think that Zeromus is up there with toughest final bosses ever. Now that the GBA has added Lunar Dungeon, it becomes even more difficult, even in Easytype.

- Final Fantasy VIII has a lack of challenges for the most part, but I've found Ultima Weapon and Omega Weapon to be tricky to find, trickier to beat. The biggest headache is getting a full deck of cards.

- Final Fantasy V is actually about even with FF8. Neo X-Death is tough, and a lot of the dungeons are hard to get through. The part when it's Galuf alone...ugh.

- Final Fantasy I is pretty easy now that I've replayed it. Now the NES version of Chaos was a beast, but not so with the PS and GBA versions.

- Final Fantasy VI is really easy. It excels in all aspects except overall difficulty. There are some tricky bosses like Wrexsoul, but Kefka is easy and the lack of sidequests and option bosses makes it easier. Hopefully the GBA version will make me rethink this list.

- Final Fantasy II is probably the easiest. Well, the PS version is more difficult than the GBA, but overall, there's not much to do in the way of hard sidequests or a hard final boss.
