Do you have the abilities learned? If so, are they the right katanas? You need to have a specific abilility for each type of katana, the more powerful the katana, the more powerful the move, and thusly, the more JP it will cost.

In the PSX version, the name of the sword you need matches the ability name - not sure if that's changed for PSP or not. It's also worth pointing out that not only do you need to have the sword in order for it to work, if you plan to equip the sword, you need two - the sword has to be in your inventory to use with Draw Out, not in your hands.

Also, you'd want to buy to buy plenty of katanas because the sword has a chance of being destroyed (or rent in the PSP version) so you want to have plenty of each individual sword in stock.

Just to add on: it works exactly the same in the PS1 and PSP versions, except for name changes. Second, the sword must be in your inventory (not equipped) in order to be used with the ability. And last, I'm pretty sure that the chance it's destroyed upon being used is 15% for all katana.

Yes, if you have Maintenance equipped, the blades won't break if you use them for a Draw Out. -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? I thought Maintenance only worked on equipment the character was wearing. If it works on katanas used for Draw Out abilities, too, then I've been under-utilizing my samurai. |

Sorry, apparently I was wrong. I'm used to playing an online Squaresoft MUD where Maintenance prevents the blades breaking. In the actual FFT, it doesn't affect your inventory.
