In accordance with the thread necromancy marking this year's CoNniversary, I give you my first topic:

Sabin, not as dumb as you think

Oh, my friends, let me warn you: such a dark art of sorcery is necromancy; it can harm you if you're not careful. Yes, you're viewing my posting when I was more "Blitz" and less of a "sage." (No jokes about how I'm not a sage still!)

A couple notes on the thread. Firstly, in this post in the How Much Have You Changed? thread, I noted that I had no real involvement in politics. And the digression on Sabin's sexuality did bother me at the time. I would note that now I have significantly changed my views, and while I don't believe there's any evidence he's gay, I would see no problem with it now. In fact, I think it may be an interesting piece of development, or mystery (perhaps some Sabin, Terra, male character love triangle?)

(Note: I'm making this topic with the hope that you all will wish to discuss not only his intelligenge, but his sexuality as well. I would really enjoy both discussions to take place.)

Also, to note the main reason for this thread's necromancy is to shed light that my post, even at the time, was wish-fulfillment. In other words, I "wish" that they would've made him smarter as the game progressed. Nostalgically, his scenario is still my favorite, but critically, it's one of the parts I think that the game could have significantly improved. I think they could have shown him as a bright, charismatic, and powerful leader that is initially brash and immature. With just some subtle changes, I think they could've added much more depth to what is perhaps the most near-perfect story in gaming history.

So, to revive this long-dead topic, I use the forbidden art perhaps to do good by asking this question.

Do you think that, if they were to change the Sabin character (ex.: focusing on his intelligence/sexuality), would that be a positive change? Do you think he needs any change at all?

Completely off topic, isn't the idea to just bump the original post not link to it and make an all new one?

But no I don't think Sabin needs any change whatsoever except perhaps having more lines. As far as characters go I found him to be interesting, well developed, and true to himself.

Yeah, you're right. Sorry. Is there a way I can addthese posts to that topic? Because I really wanted to revive that topic, but switch the question to what I placed in bold. I wanted to bring up both his intelligence and sexuality rather than what my original topic was about.
