I for one can't wait for FF Versus XIII.

I thought it looked very impressive but then I was a little disappointed when it turned out to be an action RPG. I'm not so good at those and to my disappointment that seems to be the genre that most spin offs and sequels of FF tend to be.

I'm certainly excited. It looks like it should be pretty good, and it sounds like they've done a good job of bringing back a traversable world map, in pre-FFX fashion.

My opinion is pretty much the sum of all the posts above me.

I am excited, and I agree that it certainly seems more 'Final Fantasy' than XIII did - but that's only based upon the tatters of information we have.

I'm also pretty keen on the setting and sketchy plot - I reckon it has real potential.

However, I am rather concerned by what I've heard about the battle system, and this could make or break it for me. I'm still hoping that the battle system is gonna be closer to the PS2 games, and at worst, FFXII. If the battle system is based on XIII, then I'm gonna be one sad moogle.

Sure, in 2032 when it finally comes out But jokes aside, it looks like it could be a good game, but there's been so many hypes and disappointments lately, it's hard to get excited. FF XIII looked so cool... and then well, you know.

Shock breaking news here, but no. I'm more thrilled for Modern Warfare 5.

Likely to come out a year before this does. And I already know more about MW5 than I do Versus XIII because, well, we've been given very little real info about V13, haven't we?

I keep hearing it is supposed to be a more 'realistic' version of Kingdom Hearts' battle style, with a more noticeable FF influence. In general it looks like they are trying to make a more traditionally influenced game than the other games in the whole FFXIII set. I also agree with what you said about the plot. It's supposedly the darkest FF yet.

So i just watched a 7 minute trailer. it looked like a trailer for about three different games and i struggled to see the reason for it having the FFXIII title

then again it was just one trailer..

It has the XIII title because it was supposed to come out with XIII and XIII Type-0 (or Agito as it used to be called) in a set, but then there were 'issues', such as the vast amount of time it's taken these games to appear. Honestly, I have faith this will be good. I've never been disappointed by the other games Nomura has directed/done story for. Besides, depending on how well it does, it may certainly deserve the moniker more than the other XIII games. (Aside from what I mentioned above about the set, they already made XIV, and I'm pretty sure there would be a fandom heyday if they tried to make number XV anytime soon, what with the reaction to XIII and XIV in general.)

Im kinda excited about it but it looked they went to a FFXII battleing style I'll buy for sure.But if they keep the XIII battle style then I may buy.

I think it looks really anime if you know what I mean. A style a lot like Death Note. I've said this a few times before and I'll say it again because it's my overriding opinion on games like this: it looks good but there are loads of games that look better, most of them released already. So no I'm not really excited.

About the graphics, it looks very cinematic and pretty. I'm not against cinematic games, FFVII's story rode on a chariot of cinematic moments (or was that the LSD?), but they can be really boring if the game gets too wound up in beautiful scenes of two people standing there talking, like FFXIII. I'm wary of games that exploit visuals without any substance. I suppose that's just me saying good graphics aren't everything but in a slightly different way.

I'm going to have to agree with this. I would have much rather seen a battle system like FFXIII. Or, really, a battle system like any other FF system. I'm afraid that battles in Versus could turn into just a frenzy of damage numbers flying around while minions get bruised.


I remember once upon a time five years ago when they first announced Versus at E3 2007. I had a copy of Game Informer that had a blowout article on the top 50 games of E3, and I remember being extremely excited about both Versus and FFXIII, especially since I was actually relatively new to the series at that time. I probably read through every game in that article twenty times (summer school; got bored easily!). Now, every single game from that article has been released. Except Versus. Point is: For Christ's sake, Square Enix, hustle up a bit.

I am certainly somewhat excited. I wouldn't say I'm crazy with anticipation or anything, especially since it doesn't even have a release date yet and I have considerably less time for gaming now than what I once did (on the other hand, this is the only series that I actually pay attention to anymore, so there isn't really any competition for my interest). But I'll probably pre-order it, and I'll probably pick up the guide as well.
