What are the most difficult Final Fantasy VI hacks of all time? I've heard of Gogo14's hack, i90east's Expert Version 2 hack, and the Eviltype hack, Pandora's Box hack, etc.
Where can I get detailed information for the i90east's Expert Version 2 hack and the Eviltype hack? |

If there was, it must have been added later, since the file hosted on CoN doesn't have it. Other than that, I can't help you personally. I've never really been in that scene. Seems like you might be a few years behind the curve, though, sorry. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

This site seems like its doing quite well with its memberships. I see plenty of active members talking so i say:all is not lost. I will say this:sooner or later you might benefit from having more modern final fantasies to attract new public. ff7 is really old news and while there are still some people interested in that game, its starting to become old news and the other ones are also old and all but forgotten nearly by now. the only reason ff4 hangs around or ff6,is because of the remakes since the people asked it enough. Quote (Blinge Odonata @ 8th April 2011 09:52) What's the Pandora's Box hack like, Chaos123? I want to leave my piece of info,i know i'm not chaos123 and this isn't the pandora's box hack but its a hack. I tried several hacks: 1:ff6 hack where you fight cloud and team:not that hard and it was made by zeemis. 2:ff6 neo ozma hack:took me a while but i got it eventually, not to hard really. 3:bartz butz hack:the easiest one i had done. I may have tried out some other of his but i can't remember. I hope this is informative. -------------------- We are stardust. Our bodies are made from the guts of exploding stars. Quote (Blinge Odonata @ 8th April 2011 02:52) What's the Pandora's Box hack like, Chaos123? I've never played the Pandora's Box hack before. Also what are the best rages for Gau in each part of the game? Should I make my own thread on this? I've beaten FF6 before but I never really used Gau. I'm trying to use Gau more oftenly this time around. So far, I heard the following rages are good. Stray Cat (WoB) Nightshade (WoR) Anguiform (Cranes) Aspik (Magitek Research Facility) Io (Low Level Natural Magic Run) Areneid (the one that casts Numblade, for Single Character Challenge as well as Low Level Natural Magic) |

Unless you're talking about the rages in one of these hacks, absolutely. That's why God made more than one thread. You should probably search the forum, too, I'm sure there have been some threads that might help you. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

Am I allowed to bump old threads about Gau's rages or should I just make my own thread?

Many of the hacks can be found on romhacking.net
There is one that doesn't let you get above 999 HP, so that one sounds pretty hard, but if they didn't change much else, then it's just like a low-level-game. Eviltype is harder in a cool way but I found the damage curves started becoming wrong (easy) once in the WoR. Pandora's Box Demo2 is a bit harder but not that much. It's got changes to the game but not to make everything super hard. The best part for me was that the script was edited to make it sound more mature, which was extremely awesome. There are rage guides from GameFaqs and Djibriel's walkthrough also tells you everything you need to know about rages, as well as everything else. Thus far I did not find a ROM that makes significant improvements to everything while also making it actually difficult and balanced throughout the game, which is why I made my version. Changes to items/monsters/heroes/abilities are usually random, unstrategic, unbalanced, or worse. |

Quote I feel that bumping is generally preferable, but if you made a new one no one would shoot you I remember the days when people would. Quote Eviltype is harder in a cool way but I found the damage curves started becoming wrong (easy) once in the WoR. This may be due to the fact that WoR has a bunch of optional sidequests which can be done in varying order. Apart from Celes -> Sabin -> Edgar -> Setzer and Relm -> Strago, you'll have to figure out how to design the sidequests so that the player is least likely to find the difficulty either ramped up too quickly or too slowly. Basically, you can try to predict what order the player might do them in (such as why I put Sabin between Celes and Edgar, and similarly one might get to Locke's complicated quest last, barring the optional characters), and then order their difficulty accordingly. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Hold on, are you saying you're familiar with the WoR of Eviltype? I agree that since it's an open RPG at that point, so it creates some difficulties, but even the later monsters didn't seem to take much effort.

How about we make the game more realistic by making it so that when you split into groups, you are also required to ration items and equipment between groups and when you unequip, the unequipped stuff can only be shared with your group. That way, you can strategize on which group should have which items and how much and what equipment.

That might require some significant hacking, since you'd have to create places for multiple sets of inventory.
That said, there are only like four places in the game (Narshe cave, Narshe snowfield, Phoenix Cave, final dungeon) where you do split up, so it mgiht not be worth it unless your hack uses this feature more often. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. That the hack i made, it's a hard type hack, and it 10 million exp to get to level 99. it was alot higher than that to begin with, but a guy working on Pandora's box said that you could never reach level 99, as the cap i set to level 99 at was impossible to reach as the counter goes up so high. also changed espers and equipment that gives hp boost to other stat boosting things. Monsters we're given boost in areas.. Impossible? maybe. Though i still consider the hack not finished and probably never will finish it. But it should be a good challange. It was one of my first rom hacks i made. -------------------- |

What about level 98?
I don't think there's actually a point to getting to level 99 except for one of Terra's spells being learned naturally or something. If anything, level 98 leaves you immune to Level 3 Muddle, Level 4 whateveritwas, and Level 5 Doom.
