How would that work? each player controlling a single character?

Well, FFVI is technically two-player compatible already. I believe that the second player can control two of the active party members in battle.

Do you think the PSN version will have a feature that allows that? Because that would be awesome.

Sorry, I'm out but just a little advice incase it can be helpful:
FF VI is great but for three players, Secret of Mana would be a better game since it's multitap compatible and has precisely 3 playable characters. You'll also have fewer logistics problems because it's a live action game where you'd have full independent controll of each character. It'd be a pain to co-ordinate strategy in FF VI with somebody else, even if the option for a second player is there in the original game. If you do end up using FF VI, be sure to set the battle mode to "Wait" at the very least so you don't have every monster killing the party while you guys discuss the merits of Fire 3 or Cure 2. Also just incase you don't already know how to go about recording it, Camstudio is a free screencasting app you can probably use. You'll either need to have a stereo mix option enabled on your sound chip/card (preferable) or loop a cable from the headphone jack to the microphone jack with a splitter connected to headphones for sound (if stereo mix is no option because your soundchip doesn't offer it, like mine.) For what it's worth, I don't know of any current SNES emulator that supports more than two players in netplay - ZSNES has an interface for it but it doesn't actually work. So you're still stuck with two effective players in SoM.
If you do want to do it with a video broadcast and people calling out the actions they want to take, a pseudo turn based game like FF6 does seem like it'd just about work, in contrast to SoM which would be practically impossible that way. There's always the pause button, too. |

Camstudio does screencasting? I thought only Skype and Livestream did that.

A joint, sectional Let's Play is not a bad idea, but you'll have to keep it going between different people, over some span of time.
