If you're looking to stay within the Final Fantasy series, FF9 is probably a logical jump if you started with FF6. It's PS1 instead of PS2, but I think it's the easiest "jump" to make if you truly want to hook yourself on FF. FF10 or FF7 would also be good choices but for whatever reason I think FF9 would work the best.

I think I need to agree with Neal here. I would tell you to play Final Fantasy IV next, as I think it's probably the overall best game to play after VI if you're new to the series, but the PS1 version of it is pretty bad, and you don't mention having any other systems on which you could play IV.
I'd say IX is probably your best bet, then VII and X, just like Neal said. IX is the closest you'll get in the Playstation era to a game that "feels" like VI, and then VII and X are both very different but both great games. IX is a wonderful game that does feel like the older FF's, but the order I would play them is VII, IX and then X. I played VII before IX, and the jump in advancement in design was amazing between the two. I personally think going from IX to VII would not be a good thing, because IX is a more polished game than VII, but VII is a great game as well.
Personally, I've not had trouble with the PS1 version of FFIV (Chrono Trigger PS1... was another story). There's some slowdown, but it doesn't hurt things to badly. In fact, IV was one of the best gameplay experiences I've had in a FF. I wound up paying $40 for FFVII at Amazon, but it's worth it. I'd play that one first so you can appreciate the innovation more. -------------------- |

IX, VII and XII are my favourites. VI is also a very good game I don't want to take anything away from it. I would say go for VII after VI. I agree that IX is in the style of the old games, but the old games are not VI. VII might be a more technologically advanced setting however the ideas and bosses are a lot more similar to VI than IX. Also going from Espers to Materia is a much smoother transition than IX's rigid character build. VII has taken a lot of hits recently with the spin-offs but the original is still one of my favourite games. It has a lot of spirituality and messages within the plot that I think the other games didn't have, to an extent. It makes it stand out even after all this time and so many other games on the market.

I'm playing IV right now im playing it on an emulator. Im not playing the PS1 games on emulators because they're a bitch to set up. I was leaning towards X but reading yalls suggestions I think I'll go on with IX. Thanks guys

Thanks guys ![]() FFX is a fantastic game, and I know that both Neal and R51 agree with me on that, it's just that FFIX has more of a classic feel that may appeal to you if you like what's going on in FFVI and/or FFIV. I would never discourage a lean towards FFX, though I suspect setting up a PS2 emulator would be more obnoxious than a PSX one. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! I would recommend any of the pre X generation of Final Fantasy games. You should be able to go to most retro gaming places and find a few of the PS1 releases.
