I decided to null my vote because I think Cloud is too sexually confused to take either of them. Also his options become some what limited after... Possible spoilers: highlight to view ...Aerith dies ...Tifa seemed quite into him but he always showed the girls very little interest whatsoever. Maybe that's why he's saving the world, to prove his manliness to himself. |

Cloud x Tifa. The Cloud we see in most of the original Final Fantasy VII game is just Cloud pretending to be Zack and not the real Cloud. Pretend Cloud was flirty around Aerith because he believed that he was not his real identity. The real Cloud had a huge crush on Tifa. The real Cloud wanted to join Soldier to impress Tifa. I voted Tifa and Cloud, purely cause Tifa is the better person for Cloud.
Aerith only liked him because of the similarities and frankly, that's a bit poor. After playing through the game a bit, I would have to pick Tifa. It seems clear that she is the one for him. After you-know-what happens, he finds comfort in her.

I didn't really like either of them, to be honest. Tifa is totally flat...
...well maybe that's the wrong word... Tifa's characterization is nearly nonexistent, and Aerith? I dunno, she just always rubbed me the wrong way. Great in battle, don't get me wrong, but she came across as too good-natured for me, without any real conflict. I liked Yuffie over both of them, she may have been a tad irritating, but at least she developed... ...another bad word choice, when Tifa is involved? Aerith is cool. Is it really that bad that she loved Cloud for him being like Zack ? People can fall in love with others because they can remind them of past lovers, it happens in real life. Also nobody dislikes Lulu for being with Wakka because Wakka reminded Lulu of her past love, Wakka's brother.  Though is kind of Cloti because Aerith seems like the girl that every guy seems to go for, and she has the looks and the personality to gain a guy with no struggles. While Tifa being shy, closed and fearful about her feelings and emotions, she's the type to get easily pushed into the background by somebody like Aerith. And she does get put into the background by Aerith. Tifa seems almost like Quistis from FF VIII. She's not outgoing or open like Rinoa and can fade into the background. I'm Cloti. But I do believe that Cloud would of ended up with Aerith if she stayed alive. Aerith is still a awesome character though, and it seems unfair that people bash her because of her feelings for Cloud being similar to past love. Hm...I'll admit it's been a while since I've played disc 2, so I may be forgetting some moments from the Lifestream scene, but she feels kind of bland to me in the first half of the game. I'm not playing any games at the moment, maybe I'll fire up VII again and see if I'm just poorly remembering, but Tifa's whole character always seemed kind of cold and calculated...like the suits at Square said, "We can't have half this game without a love interest! Quick, Nomura, draw the largest breasts you can!" and then retroactively added a little exposition in the first half to make her work. I'm a Barret and Yuffie guy myself, I think those two developed quite well.

I've always found this topic both really pointless and furiously intriguing. Pointless mainly because in all honestly it completely depends how you play the game- apparently you can 'date' Barret if you play your cards right.
I've always been a default CloudxTifa. I could never see why it could be Cloud and Aeris: they never had enough time to build a history as strong as Cloud and Tifa, based on the time that elapses between Cloud and Aeris meeting and her going off to join the... army.... People have said that Aeris helped Cloud get through his "problems", meaning his "who am I" strife that happens. Unfortunately for that theory she isnt around much when that all kicks off in earnest, and it is infact Tifa who gets Cloud through this. That, coupled with the fact that it was always Tifa that Cloud wanted to impress, was the clincher. Also, I always sympathised more with Tifa. Aeris was always more confident than Tifa. In a world where Tifa died in Nibelheim, and nothing ever happened to suggest that Cloud thinking he was Zack was wrong, cloud and aeris would have been an excellent couple. But in Final Fantasy VII, where these things did happen, only Cloti makes sense to me.  |

Cloud and Tifa. As somebody said before ( I don't know who, sorry ) Cloud joined SOLDIER to be noticed by Tifa because ha had a crush on her etc. Aeris was ment for Zack I think, but who knows what would have really happened if

I know it goes against almost everyone else on this topic, but I am 90% for Aerith x Cloud with the other 10% being Cloud just not being the kind of guy who can have a relationship. The game clearly had it set up for Cloud to be with Aerith, which if you don't try one way or the other in the game, Aerith is your date at the Gold Saucer more often than Tifa.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view Cloud spent a majority of the game mind washed by Hojo to help Sephiroth's goal, and was convinced to pursure Sephiroth by the actions that the clones did (since the real Sephiroth was always in the North Crater) That Cloud did belong with Aerith, and thats who you start the game with, the Ex-SOLDIER. After the Lifestream when Cloud finally knows who he is and remembers his past, sure he may be a good match for Tifa, but he is still way to detached from reality and his emotions to be with anyone at that point. -------------------- That was my sin.
