Hey hey, for anyone who hasn't seen, internet celeb Spoony has just finished his 4-part review of Final Fantasy X, collected here for those interested. Warning: foul language. Also, take heart X fans, since I've seen Tidus and Yuna as a background on his computer several times, I suspect he doesn't really dislike the game as much as he acts.

I've never seen this until tonight, but I just watched all four parts. He's funny, and he pointed out things in the game that I had never noticed (like the numerous times the cameras point at somebody's ass). This guy looks a little like Zach Braff. His outside plot is a little too much, though.
Thanks for the link! I agree, and I could tell that he didn't actually hate FFX. His frustration with the characters/storyline was sometimes genuine but he was just poking fun at them. -------------------- |

Are you sure? He doesn't give it any credit other than the music and the battle system, aside from the weapons and so on. I really don't get the impression that he likes it at all. Anyway, that was a great series of videos. I like he method of working through the game from beginning to end and criticising it as problems become apparent. Thanks for posting it. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

Spoony is an actor. An amatuer actor, true, but an actor nonetheless. His persona is exaggerated. Odds are good that in any given moment, what he is criticising was a fault to the real Noah Antwiler, but The Spoony One hammed it up and exaggerated it for comedy. Taking these videos seriously misses the point. Taking them as parody misses the point. Ultimately it's a middle ground. If I had to hazard a guess I'd say he may have liked or at the very least tolerated FFX, like most people, but rightly attacks the greater flaws present. Or alternatively, the FFX background spotted in earlier videos was foreshadowing (It's a hint!) or a red herring (It's a trap!) and Spoony is looking at the internet, giggling, and commanding his puppets to dance. Oh Spoony, you so funny. I actually like him and his reviews almost as much as I like AVGN. He definitely made some good points about the game's flaws but it's obvious that he didn't hate it.

I enjoyed FFVIII and FFX Alot, but I enjoy Spoony's reviews a lot of both.
The Lady Gaga - Yunalesca comparison was hilarious. |

My God... I am a very patient man, maybe this is why I could stand Tidus. I mean I wasn't unaware of his awful qualities but there wasn't...much.. raging.
But this guy! spoony? I want to punch his face in, and I'm only a few minutes in. Nostalgia ridden verbal diarrhoeal cock! -------------------- www.youtube.com/blinje The victor sacrificed the vanquished to the heavens |

They are pretty funny. I knew spoony from his FF VIII videos ( a game I like). But as was stated above, i can't say all the flaws he pointed are THAT bad, he just exagerates to be more funny. I can imagine myself bashing a bunch of games i like just for the fun of it.
A proof that he may not hate the games/movies despite his reviews is that he always states that he hates anime, all kinds, even those more pointed to be good (akira, for example), but I remember to see in his bedroom a poster of cowboy bebop. -------------------- Live Long and Prosper! |
