I was wondering what are some the favorite job classes from any game that you may have played?

Defence of the Ancients is packed with great classes and ideas. My favourite is the Shadow Lancer. His great trick is not in strength but in spawning copies of himself "by stealing the life of his enemies". He can escape by spawning a copy and running away whilst being invisible, he can cast a Spirit Lance which hits the enemy and creates a copy that starts attacking them, and he has a chance to create a copy upon simply attacking. And he looks like Kimahri.
Another one is the Axe. He is basically an out-and-out killer. He has a spell that makes enemies lose health until they kill something themselves, he can make everyone around him attack him immediately without them being able to stop while his armour rating skyrockets, he has a finishing move which kills the an enemy when they're below a certain amount of health, and something else I can't remember. There's something about Monks in FF games that I really like, notably Sabin and Amarant. When I play FFXII I try to build at least one character in this mould. It looks great to have someone fighting bare-fisted against armoured opponents with shields and swords. Also when Basch fights bare-fist one of his attack animations is a knee to the ribs. This is oddly hilarious when running around the field with him at a high level; for example when he's running up to a poor sleeping Chocobo and kneeing it once in the ribs, watching it fall over, then running to the next one. I've always liked the Dark Knights. FFIV and I think Tactics have them, that's all I know of anyway. Evil weapons are more fun, and more useful. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

My favorite Diablo II classes say it all - Necromancer, Barbarian, Druid. I like classes that can summon minions, casts buffs or debuffs, and can take a hit. Basically, any class I play has to do at least two of those things: Tank, Buff, Debuff, or Summon. It's also why I love Torchlight's Alchemist and Destroyer, but begrudgingly played through once as the Vanquisher for the achievement. I sometimes like playing lightweight blaster-magic-types, but only if they're powerful enough to clear the screen REAL fast.

I value Open Lock, Disable Device, Hide, Move Silently, Search, Spot, Listen, Tumble, Sleight of Hand, Escape Artist, and Use Magic/Psionic Device, so my favorite class in D&D 3.5 is Rogue.
Given a choice in a videogame, I'll usually go for a rogue/ Ironically, in FF games, the rogue or thief choice is not as attractive, mainly because they're not as good at taking hits or dealing lots of damage, and the point of most generic JRPG battles is to kill as much stuff dead before stuff kills you dead. Granted, if I really boosted, say, Locke's relevan stats up through the roof so that he would dodge everything, that might be an idea, but I'm too lazy to minmax like that. I used to love magic-casting classes, but I get so tired of depending on mana/magic points that I now prefer to do something that can do strong melee without using something that's expensive to replenish. I'd rather have three tough-skinned melee and one healing magic user, and that's it. Simple, no mind games!
My WoW character is a warrior right now -------------------- You're telling me that there's no hope. I'm telling you you're wrong. |
