Pat R., he of the fantastically wonderful "Rise and Fall of Final Fantasy" (which everyone should go read at http://socksmakepeoplesexy.net/index.php?a=patff right now, whether to somberly agree with, or to raise your vitriol and argue against) has just given the same treatment to the Chrono series at much the same place, http://socksmakepeoplesexy.net/index.php?a=chrono
Given that, as a poet, I need to give shoutouts to fellow literate intellectual types, I highly recommend reading it, even though I'm so far only about 1/3 of the way through the Cross review. Besides, it's always interesting to read something new, eh? -------------------- "If art doesn't risk upsetting expectations and challenging its audience, it can only stagnate." |

Those are pretty good, and in-depth. I don't always agree, but they are good.

Yeah, sometimes I think that he is perhaps a bit too harsh on both Chrono Cross and FF IX, but to be honest I'm a total apologist for both games and it's quite possible that I can't see beyond my love of the story elements (I've always been enchanted with the plot device of 'character doesn't know that he's not human' even though it rips off Dick mercilessly) to see the possibly mediocre games underneath. Either way, it's good to have an English major on the same wavelength as me.
