So, I'm giving Kingdom Hearts another shot again but I wan to makes sure I understand all the iterations and sequels.

So I know the first and second were PS2 titles, that's easy enough to follow, but if someone could explain Chain of Memories and Re: Chain of Memories that would be great. Is Re: Chain a graphical update of the GBA game or is it a sequel to the GBA game?

Also, can you list the games in order chronologically story-wise.

Thanks.

Re: Chain of Memories is simply a port of the original onto the Playstation 2. Outside of graphical changes and an increased amount of voice-over work not used because of the limited power of the Gameboy Advance, the two games are identical.

In terms of chronological order, the games take place as follows:

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep
Kingdom Hearts
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days
Kingdom Hearts II

Really, if you only ever play KH and KH II, some of the finer details of the plot will be lost, but the experience as a whole remains pretty much intact.

i actually liked Chain of Memories, i thought it gave interesting back story to the new villians in kh 2. if you want to skip any of them, 358/2 days wasnt great.

i can also say, without any hyperbole, Birth by Sleep is the best kingdom hearts game. Bar. None.

Another game is being re-released for the DS, called Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded. in January.

It's a remake of the cell phone game Kingdom Hearts: Coded, and takes place after Kingdom Hearts II.

Thought I would point this out.
