Recently, I was able to get into the Sailor Moon series like in the past two months, finishing the first two seasons of the English dub and finishing watching the live-action series that ended a few years ago in Japan. I have to say, I was quite wrong about my impressions about the series; at first, I simply thought it was just a silly cartoon for girls, but I got really into the series. I haven't watched past the initial few episodes of the third season of the English dub because I thought it was pretty bad, but I think I might watch the last three seasons in Japanese with subs.

I'm currently watching Yami no Matsuei. I'm about half way through, and I'm really enjoying it. It's so gripping as well as completely gorgeous. ^____^

That's me too, Aether. I got nostalgic about it a couple months back, and I watched some of the attack/make ups on youtube. I would get episodes if I had a faster connection.

My Winamp ran into problems recently, after I tried a bunch of pitch-altering plugins, such that it wouldn't close correctly anymore, so I decided to uninstall and reinstall the entire darn thing. In doing so, I saved a record of what plugins I had, but my skins went the way of the trash since I forgot to copy the folder. But it seems that my wandering around the internets redownloading (and getting some new) Winamp skins did a few good things--other than just reducing the ridiculously large amount of skins I'd previously downloaded.

While hunting for Winamp skins I came across two interesting things. First, I happened to come upon a skin with an introspective pose of Asuka Langley Soryu from the Evangelion series, and I'm a newly minted fan of the character after reading various stuff about her on the internet--a very interesting character indeed, who first caught my eye because of her nice character design. (The skin is Asuka Amp v.2.1, in case you want to find it.)

I also came across a skin for Mireille Bouquet, and being curious, I looked up Noir on Wikipedia as well, and I currently think that that series might be to my liking, due to the following sentences:

Quote (Wikipedia article on Noir)
Noir has almost no funny or comic relief scenes, save for some sarcastic remarks. No character is ever animated with super deformed or over-exaggerated style. Despite the presence of attractive female lead characters, Noir features almost no fanservice (compare this to Najica Blitz Tactics). In Noir, characters' non-verbal expressions play such a significant role that it is quite difficult to come to a common understanding of the show.

The combination of subtlety and seriousness, lack of some typical anime quirks that annoy me, and the lack of fanservice make it a pretty viable choice for being something I might want to get myself into.

So I ended up asking an anime fan friend of mine if he has any NGE or Noir stuff. I'm interested in seeing it.

(I also took a detour and discovered who Yorda was and ended up identifying this weird little game I once played at a demo-fest of sorts as Ico, described on Wikipedia as having "received strong reviews, and...become a cult hit among video game enthusiasts", giving me one more reason to get a PS2 someday. Also, the internet has next-to-none Law & Order Winamp skins. The one that I found tried to force me to download adware just to use it.)

I went out shopping the other day and I spotted something interesting. It was the Tales of Phantasia anime, translated. I thought it was only in Japan. How long has it been on western soil? I never bought it, though, mostly because anime dvd's are so frickin' expensive.

There was a group at Tales-Cless.org that was fansubbing it but had to quit around a year ago because one of the voice actors from the official dub asked them too. It was probably released less than six months ago, but I'm not sure.

And yeah, it isn't very good. It tries to be a recap of some of the story's major plot points, but there is no way to understand what is going on unless you've played the game because it skips around so much. It also takes a few annoying storyline liberties.

Nice batch of watching you're doing there, one question though: what's Bleach doing there? I mean, seriously, the series has something like 70 episodes of FILLER right after the first big trouble at Soul Society. It's seriously bad.

It's actually 46 episodes of filler, then around 40 episodes of non-filler, and then some more filler. Bleach isn't bad, it just gets tiresome with the fillers. And at least it isn't Naruto.

Well, of course it isn't, and that's good. I actually like the plot of Bleach, just hate the lenght of it. That's why most of my favourite anime are clossed 13 to 26 episode series.

Well...

Full Metal Alchemist Well, I like the manga way better, but I thought the anime was pretty cool, too.

Chrno Crusade Recently became obssessed with this one. The ending was pretty damn depressing too...

Other than that, well...nothing. I don't really know why Inuyasha is so popular, as I always found it terribly boring, same with Naruto.

--------------------
FFIVDS looks awesome, right? Especially the character scans. I mean, look at that CGI scan of Yang. You see it and you just think...badass. And then you look at his polka-dot pants, likely stolen from a Dr. Seuss book. And then you just...shiver.

Inuyasha is worst with fillers. I loved the series when it first started, not I can't even watch newer eps (as in last 100.) Naruto's good, but you'd probably wanna read the manga, since it cuts out all the fillers (and looks better too actually). I personally love FMA the anime, and the manga's okay too. The animation in anime is better in this one.
The show I got into a while back was Eureka 7, took me a while of watching it to really get into it and I still don't know what was going on half the time. But now that it's off I miss it sad.gif

I have watched all 37 episodes of Death Note, which is a truly awesome anime.

I am also watching Naruto every time a new episode comes out.

And then there's Hellsing and Devil May Cry, which i rarely watch, but they're both decent in my opinion.

Full Metal Panic fans, unite! I just finished the Fumoffu interseries, a short spiel of 15
episodes that focuses on the romantic comedy side of FMP!, and less so
on the Whisper/BlackTechnology ramifications. But lots of gung ho militaristic action!
Completely hilarious. Was worth reporting to work dead-tired to watch all of it inside
of two days. Highly recommended!

Okay, can someone clear this up for me? Does Chrono Crusade have ANYTHING to do with Chrono Trigger/Cross? Because all I've seen of it was that their is a nun, and a dude that looks sort of like Surge (though that could just be the bandana)

Chrono Trigger/Cross has nothing to do with Crono Crusade. Crono Crusade is, however, worth checking out. smile.gif

I recently finished watching Samurai 7 and I'm now watching Gankutsuou. Samurai 7 is surprisingly awesome, and I grew to really care about the main characters even though I know which ones were going to die, having seen Seven Samurai. All seven character adaptations are well-done, with my favorites being Kyuzo and Shichiroji in S7. Kikuchiyo, my favorite character from the Kurosawa movie, wasn't pulled off very well in the anime, but this is probably my bias talking. The most major change made to the classic storyline (other than it being set in a steampunk future and making the nobuseri giant robots) is the expanded roles of the principal villain characters, which was one alteration that I definitely understood and enjoyed. Bottom line - check it out; it's good.

I was a little hesitant about getting into Gankutsuou, since it's based on one of my all-time favorite storylines (as is S7), but it's a really neat adaptation from what I've seen so far. Basically, the take the story, start from somewhere in the middle, make Albert the main character, and set it in outer space. It's totally exceeding my expectations thus far.

i like anime a fair bit although i don't get to watch it often enough because free to air channels only carry a couple, at most, at one time, and there's Animax but i don't really want to add on to the hefty electricity bills anyway. So, i've watched:

Gensomaden Saiyuki, Jigoku Shoujo, and Witch Hunter Robin, all of which have fairly interesting plots and i enjoyed.

Hellsing, which is excellent.

Currently watching D Grayman, the premise so far is interesting, but it seems kinda similar to WHR though.

i'd like to watch Fullmetal Alchemist, and Naruto, and i've heard that Cowboy Bebop and Blood+ is good as well. Don't know whether this counts, but for full length anime films, Perfect Blue and Paprika are top of my list, both done by the same director.

Oh dear. I suppose I'll finally give you my list of anime I thought were good.

First and foremost, Dragon Ball Z. It was the very first anime I watched start to finish even though it took a few years. Some episodes drug on like no tomorrow, and the plot wasn't the best sometimes, but all in all it was a masterpiece. Great characters and awesome fight scenes.

Anything Gundam related I usually enjoy. Such as G gundam, Gundam wing, and my favorite Gundam seed and GSDestiny. Fullmetal Alchemist was a good'n. Trigun was good, Cowboy bebop ofcourse, Excel saga was funny as hell, GTO was amazing, Beserk was.... well it was beserk, Kenshin, Samurai X, Peace maker, Samurai champloo, Master keaton (oldschool) those were all pretty good.

I am currently watching, Bleach, Naruto Shippuudin, and One Piece. Naruto does not say 'Believe it', he does not have a catchfrase, he simply ends his settences with 'Dattebayo' which doesn't mean anything. So shut up about it!.

I'm not too big on Anime, but I've seen Elfen Lied and Azumanga Daioh all the way through, and have partly seen Keroro Gunsou, Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo and Gantz. I'm thinking of finishing off Gantz once I can remember which Episode I left off on.

I've heard so many good things about Haruhi, but I just can't get into it. Yes, it's weird and quirky and funny, but I also can't help but think it's done much better in other places, and I really can't stand some of the characters. In a word? Overrated.

It seems that no one here knows or cares about
the great anime Ranma 1/2,
I know it's pretty old but it resembles newer anime in its style,
it's got an interesting concept and amusing characters,
Kuno, Ryoga, and Mousse are funny because of their unique flaws and goofy personalites,
it's a classic and it popularized many trends in anime that are used today,

Meh, I'm not a big fan of Ranma. For some reason whenever I try to watch or read anything from Takahashi, it seems really fun at first, but I lose interest midway in - Ranma, Inuyasha, it's all the same. Takahashi's greatest legacy will probably be the truly horrible fanfiction that is a direct result of her character designs (I mean, boy who turns into a girl? come on... not to mention she's practically the godmother of all furries)
