When I was little, I used to love my Perler beads. I would make things and then take them apart and make other things; for a while, I remember that I was making FF1 weapons from my imagination, because, yes, I was that nerdy as a child.
Anyway, I got a little nostalgic last year, and even more so when I saw some of the nerdy projects that other like-minded people out there have been doing (check out http://www.spritestitch.com/?p=2604 or http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/forums/ipb/in...howtopic=11460). So I bought a bunch of beads and boards, and just last night I finished my first project: ![]() It's Alex from River City Ransom, for those of you who were too young to play a true NES gem (or the GBA remix, I guess). It's got just over 8,200 total beads, and for the scale, it's pictured there with a CD case. Perhaps I can do something Final Fantasy-related next. ![]() This post has been edited by Rangers51 on 11th December 2012 15:51 -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

You make me want to throw Daft Punk's "Work It" at you for that, in accordance with the famous RCR flash video.
![]() Great job. Though I immediately wondered why you couldn't just have used one bead per pixel. I guess that would be 1/16 the size... -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. You can find me on the Fediverse! I recognized the character immediately. I miss that game. It had a weird strange sort of rpg'ish aspect to it even.
With that being said, nice work. I cant wait to see the FF visions you create. |

Quote (Rangers51 @ 8th November 2010 08:32) Not that I recall, IP, why? I have about 10k black beads in my closet. Because his right hand (left in the picture) seems to have a group of four peach colored beads that should be black. Like a 1/2 sized pixel of peach. If you want to call it "artistic license" to make the closed hand read better, I won't question it. This post has been edited by Iain Peregrine on 8th November 2010 20:07 |

Just did it in error and caught it too late. ![]() -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

Alex AND The Go! Team, eh? That sounds like the recipe for some sort of late-night NES party. One that would likely be punctuated both by fruity sodas and ecstatic cries of "BARF!" well into the wee hours.
