I'd have newsposted this, but it really doesn't relate to Square-Enix or RPGs at all. So here it is (thanks Kotaku!):

Dead Rising: Case West, which serves as an epilogue for the two games in the series and brings Frank West and Chuck Greene together. Developed by the Canadian studio (now a Capcom affiliate) that did Dead Rising 2, which comes out in the United States in a few weeks.

Asura's Wrath, which is unapologetically a God of War-inspired game about Eastern myth. This game is way back in the pipeline - we won't see it out for a few years at least.

Devil May Cry, with a Dante that doesn't look like Dante. Developed by Ninja Theory, the Brits that did Heavenly Sword for the PS3.

Trailers for each of these were shown at Capcom's TGS presentation, so they'll hit the internet in probably less than 24 hours.

Well a new DMC sounds good, but do not care at all about the other two.
Should take a look at that then.

I'm not in the loop about things, but are any of these games related to what I heard about the backdraft against Capcom for "westernizing" one of their games?

I think you're misunderstanding something, GMH. I haven't heard any complains of Capcom's Westernization, but key developers at Capcom (particularly our man Keiji Inafune) have said out loud that Japanese game developers are falling behind Western ones, and they should try to make games for a global audience rather than just a Japanese one. They may have upset some people with that statement, but my understanding is that Capcom will continue making games in its flagship series aimed at Japanese audiences (sup Monster Hunter) but also try to make games more aimed at Western audiences - in the same talk, Inafune mentioned that Dead Rising and particularly its protagonist Frank West were created with American appeal in mind. My suspicion is that Dead Rising is aimed more at a global audience, Asura's Wrath is aimed at an Eastern audience but was made with Western sensibilities (uses Eastern myth, but is otherwise similar to God of War, made in America), and DMC is trying to shake up an old Eastern formula with a new Western developer (the first four DMC games were made by Shinji Mikami and his boys now over at PlatinumGames).

OK, but now for the real reason I'm reviving this thread. Kotaku just dropped news of a new Capcom game that just barely missed the show floor at TGS:

Mega Man Legends 3 is being made for the Nintendo 3DS

You can file this under things laszlow didn't see coming.

Oh, I made that comment because I recently got done with a two threads arguing with...a somewhat biased individual, over the direction of the game industry. Here's the longer one, at 18 pages of up to 25 posts each. (The other one is here, at 14 pages, and is less directly relevant to this topic.)

And damnit, you beat me to announcing Mega Man Legends 3.
