I kinda had an idea once, to tell the stories between FF7 and that final FMV, but once I realised the scale of the job (a full 500 year scale) I thought I'd see if anyone was up for helping me with the project?

Get back to me, thanks smile.gif

Umm....

Possibly... Are we going to start from the start or start from favourite areas etc?

If I was to do such a thing, (which I wouldn't. Not that it's a bad idea so far as fan fiction goes, but rather, I've more or less retired from this arena of writing, and I certainly never contemplated an FFVII piece. Actually, this is one of the better ideas I've heard.) I would first come up with a broad historical timeline of major events that occur between the end and the FMV. Following this, divvy up the time into two pieces and my partner and I would each write a series of shorts depicting the various important parts of the timeline. In this way, because the sequence of events is agreed upon, you can have two people working in tandem without treading much on each-others toes, AND still have room for individual creativity due to the fact that each event is could be a different narrative style, new characters, a new perspective, etc. I mean, the goal of all of this is just an accurate historical picture, and just like real history, there's bound to be tons of different sources for the same event or events.

Just a suggestion.

Well if that were to happen, we could use this Pre-game Timeline to help us (we being me an' Ci_Padre)

No, it's definitely five hundred. The game says so. smile.gif

And I WOULD do it, but I don't entirely understand the project. You mean like write about what caused Midgar to be in that state? What would we go on? Would we just write off the top of our heads?

I'm definitely interested though.

Just a suggestion, but there is currently a 'fractal storytelling' game in its last stages of playtesting that might be a good fit for how to approach this type of project. You can read more about it here:
http://www.lamemage.com/blog/index.php/87/...-is-microscope/

I was actually thinking of starting one that would fill in a storyline for the War of the Magi in FFVI, but I've been way too busy lately to start it. I even signed up to be one of the playtesters.

The advantage of doing it this way is that it's designed for timelines that are very large, say 100 to 1000 or more years long.

Anyway, let me know what you think, and I might be able to join you and provide all participants with the current version of the player's handbook. It's originally designed to be for in-person gaming, but I've seen it played through media such as Google Wave.
