I got bored and started another file on FFX, I got as far as where Seymour summons Anima and after Anima is summoned in an in game cutscene (not one of the FMV's), the game just freezes, it acts like it still works as I see things (such as the flames) moving in the background.

When I bought the game, there were a few scratches on the disc as it was used, but the problems only persisted recently, and I want to know what to do. I'm using a Slim PS2 if that helps.

I had a problem where an FMV wouldn't load, so the characters just repeated their animation ad infinitum. I'm sure my problem was a scratched disc so yours could be too.

yeah Seymour and Amina just sit there as the music plays. I'm not sure what to do as I dont have one of those disc doctor things. Should I adjust settings on my PS2?

I tried everything. Try turning the PS2 on its head when playing the game, yeah adjust the settings, try it on a regular PS2, and put toothpaste on the disc to clean it. You can go into game shops to get them to fix the disc. It's very cheap.

Exact same thing happened to me on my fat ps2. Like sweetdude says, try

everything you can to clean it and try ejecting and re-inserting the disk several

times when you are at the cutscene. If your lucky, the cutscene will skip and the

cutscene following the cutscene should skip as well. Hope this helps smile.gif

Tried that, and it is just an average cutscene, the only thing active is the flames near where Seymour is sitting and the music. No luck.

I must have gotten reeeally lucky then because I had the exact same problem. This

is a long shot but maybe try bringing your memory card and the game over to a

friends house; one that has a PS2. If your friend has a copy of the game then you

should be able to bypass that part with relative ease. If he/she doesnt then you

can try the game on their PS2 and see if it will bypass (worked when I had a disc

issue with FFVII)

There is just one problem, I moved out of California a month and a half ago, and know almost no one except for some people at church and at work. If I was back home, I know people who have it.

I guess I can ask my cousin to bring his copy when he comes for my birthday in a week and a half. For now ill keep unlocking stuff in Mario Kart Wii.

Although I am late to reply I can only assume that a scratch would be your problem.
Really though you can buy another copy for very very cheap now.
My copy for example was only 10 dollars.
