Since I didn't cover EA, as it didn't have much newsworthy for CoN proper, maybe it's a good time for a general topic. Keep Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo in the news topics I'm writing/will be writing each day, I suppose.

In EA, which I only half watched, I caught the gameplay clip of Crysis 2 and was wowed by the fidelity of NYC's Grand Central Station. If any of you guys have spent much time there, it was eerie just how accurately it was rendered, down to the texture of the glass in the main windows and the chandeliers in the wings. I'm not sure I care that much about the game, but man, was it pretty.

I also get a little excited every time I see a Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit game. The original for PSX is probably my favorite racing game ever, and I'd like to try another one. However, it seems like they are jamming more and more story into the game, and it just doesn't seem to need it for me. Just let me catch speeders on cool road courses! Granted, PvP criminal vs. police is still and will always be awesome.

I thought Bulletstorm was gimmicky. If you put a boot in Unreal Tournament 3, don't you have largely the same game? The wisecracks thrown out weren't even all that entertaining, if you ask me. It ends up being just another shooter.

Now, Star Wars: The Old Republic. I've still got some fanboy in me, and this game really lit it up. Will it be any good? No way to tell based on what they showed. It was pretty cool, but it obviously wasn't gameplay. Put it on Kinect, though, and you might have a real unit-mover. I will TOTALLY wave a lightsaber around my living room.

Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? Or perhaps buying a really good looking shirt?

I know it's gimmicky, but I was really impressed with Natal. There's a potential for some pretty cool games there. It would be cool if they designed a full game for it, it could really be fun.

G4 is finishing up an in-depth on The Old Republic right now. I'll never be a MMO guy, but there's no way you can't say that this doesn't look pretty slick. The gameplay looks clean and polished, and the design is definitely quality. I can't imagine ever wanting to play a MMO, but the Sith Inquisitor class looks pretty dang cool.

Edit
Inquisitor is the Palpatine-type Sith, by the way, while Warrior is the Vader-style Sith.

I would like to use this opportunity to discuss why G4 is stupid. Here's a point where they hire a girl that every nerd seems to assume is attractive but is not funny, not particularly good at her job, and makes a game in which I was already uninterested look even less entertaining.

Also, not that I would be one to give anyone too hard of a time about Engrish, but the Konami video that has shown up on YouTube has the best combination of Engrish and possibly hallucinogens that I've ever seen.

I was watching yesterday, and she was hosting this competition, and it was really incoherent. It is clear that she knows little about video games. People make fun of Morgan Webb, but she at least knows a little about games. But G4 as a whole, I agree. They should make more video game related television, instead of rerunning Cops and horrible movies.

Ugh, that is way I hate that channel now. Ninja Warrior and some of the other shows are alright and fun to watch but I just get so angry when there's Cops and Cheaters on. I don't go to that channel for those shows.

-and for both Unleashed II and Old Republic I just don't have as much trust in the Star Wars Video Game License and Lucas Arts as I did a long time ago. Unleash does have some potential but I won't get the Wii version and I don't play MMOs.

Let's see, what else is there...

OH yes! The Third Birthday trailer! No real release date yet but a trailer with gameplay is good!

Also Marvel VS Capcom 3, good stuff there.

No announcements for SaGa2 remake or Tales of Graces...

Oh, and a Remake of Donkey Kong Country!

-and that's all I really am thinking about E3
