I got Birth By Sleep. I just finished installing data, and now I'm deciding which difficulty to do. Wish me luck!

Haha, aren't they a series? I dunno if you'll be confused by the plot or not, if you're thrown in the middle.

You're telling me that there's no hope.

I'm telling you you're wrong.

I know KH2 follows the plot of 1, so you'd be really confused if you started with 2. I dunno about the others in the series though. Either way, good luck!

I don't know about BbS but just in case it might help you choose the setting, in the original I thought I was was breezing through until a huge difficulty spike arose near what I think was the end, so I didn't quite finish. I'm not sure precisely what difficulty I picked but I think it was normal?

Probably not, since Birth By Sleep is a prequel.

you'll miss out on most of the nods, as birth by sleep answers pretty much every question you have on the series thus far. its still a great game, and the best in the series, but you wont get a whole lot out of the story

Yeah, the story isn't really doing much for me. It's cute, and the characters are likable, but the external events really aren't that interesting. I'll just play the original next.

The original is a very good game in its own right.
I just started Birth By Sleep a little while ago, also. I don't mind the story that much. In fact, I'm rather enjoying seeing the various events from three different points of view. I like how Ventus is energetic without being obnoxious, and I have a fanboy crush on Aqua. Man, if I had the chance, I would totally [CENSORED]. One thing I don't like, though, is Terra's voice actor. I'm also annoyed that Terra is named as such. I get the whole "earth/water/wind" deal, but this likely means that they'll never include the FFVI character of the same name.
Speaking of voice acting, I squee'd when I figured out that Master Eraqus's voice actor is Mark Hamill (aka Luke Skywalker), who also voiced The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series and Fire Lord Ozai in Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Anyway, I just got to Neverland with Ventus and Aqua, and I'm at Disneytown with Terra (having skipped it in order to complete Olympus Colosseum and Deep Space)
Which story/ies and difficulty setting did you choose, SG?.

I'm playing Ventus' story on Normal. I'm at the rematch with Vanitas, who is TOUGH. When I'm done with this story, I'll play Aqua's, and then finish with Terra's.

Yeah, I'm ticked that Terra means Terra won't be in a new KH game, but meh.

Oh, and Mark Hamil voiced Ozai? I didn't think it was possible, but Avatar just got, like, over nine-thousand times better.

BBS is a great game, I hope you enjoy it. It's probably one of the best in the series. Terra, Ven and Aqua seem more likable than Sora, Riku and Kairi and it's nice to see some of the older Disney worlds like Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, than more modern ones like Beauty and the Beast and Mulan.
The only gripe I had with BBS is the music. I hated the Disney world because of it, if I had to hear Mickey Mouse Club march song one more time....

I totally agree; the music in general seems somewhat subpar compared to that of KH1. The "Bibbity-Bobbity-Boo" loop in Castle of Dreams stands out to me.
The exception, though, is Radiant Garden. I actually rather enjoy the music...
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
since it's the same music in Hollow Bastion in KH1.
