Okay, so I've been playing through Tales of Symphonia for the past two months, right? And I get up to the last boss, beat him on my first try and then, just as Lloyd is about to use the Eternal Sword to get back to Derris-Kharlan...
MY GAME CRASHES. I'd normally just watch the ending on Youtube, but I don't know which ending I would have gotten. I think I was going to get Collete's, but I have no way of knowing. That sucks.
Also, if that happened to me, I would be like the first one in the compilation. -------------------- The meaning of life is life itself. We were put on this earth to follow our dreams unabated. |

Oh gosh, this is so sad.
I remember a similar instance where I was on the first disk of FFVIII. My party was preparing to assassinate the sorceress, but the game froze every time on the cutscene just after Rinoa sneaks into Edea's chamber. I was playing a friend's copy of the game at the time, so I immediately went to buy one online. Unfortunately, it took two weeks to arrive -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! The first copy of Ico I owned froze up every time I went into the main courtyard. Stupid GameStop sold it to me that way, and it was a big pain trying to get my money back.

I once got to the very last scene of Ecoquest: the Search for Cetus...and the game crashed. And just to add to the misery, I think I had been playing continuously for hours before that...without saving.
You see, kids, there's one good thing about not playing for too long at a time, and that's the fact that you end up actually saving your game. Another time, I was playing Juka and the Monophonic Menace, and the game somehow glitched such that I was on Castle level 1 (the first of three final dungeon levels) and it just refused to open the last music-note gate, even though I'd acquired the necessary musical instrument to do so. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Well, I beat it again. I save at pretty much every chance I get and the last boss is a joke, so it wasn't THAT much work.
I did get Colette's ending and... What a let down! Seriously, it felt really anti-climactic and everything... the worst part that there was no "I love you" type scene. I know it's childish to let that get to me, but I'd been waiting for one for the past twenty-ish or so hours of gameplay. Possible spoilers: highlight to view Oh, and thanks to Lloyd talking about how great his two Dads are, I now ship DirkxKratos. No joke! -------------------- "When we think there's no hope left, we keep looking until we find some!" - Claire Farron |

Something like this happened to me with a used copy of Pokemon Emerald that I had gotten from GameStop. I had bought it with the intent of raising a bunch of good mons, beating the Elite Four, beating the Battle Frontier, and transferring them all to HeartGold once it came out.
I had beaten the Elite Four, and was blasting through it again with Rayquaza for money and experience. I beat Wallace, sat though the credits, and tried to load up my game again, only to find out that: Quote (Pokemon Emerald Version) The save file has been erased due to corruption or damage. And whenever I tried to start a new game, after a while it would do that again. So yeah, $40 and 170+ hours of gameplay gone. Edit I would have gone to GameStop and asked for my money back if I hadn't thrown out the receipt. I also would have sold it by this point, but I want to keep it out of circulation so some poor soul doesn't fall to the same fate that I did. Recently, I was playing Recettear, and...
* I was fighting the boss of a section of dungeon, and I lost with like 8 HP on the boss to go. I had a really good haul that time too... * I was about to get to the boss of another section of dungeon, and I didn't watch myself and got kashunk'd IN SIGHT OF THE NEXT LEVEL TELEPORT STATION. I had a really good haul that time too... * I was fighting the third phrase of a three-phase boss, in that same section of dungeon, and...well, yeah. I had a really good haul that time too... Okay, granted, these aren't quite on-topic. They're a different problem. So I'll post on-topic as well: In Pokémon Blue, Sabrina had me down to an underleveled pikachu, and no more items. But somehow, between multiple Flashes, paralysis and gradual Thundershocking, it actually fell. Then later, I beat the Elite Four and the rival--who have mons levels 53 through 65 with a team with levels 48 through 52 by the time they were done. It involved lots of luck and items. But it was possible. After that, though, I duplicated some items using the Cinnibar Island missingno glitch. Well, there went the evidence that my fearow, graveler, pikachu, gyarados, kadabra, and venusaur had beat them. Well, granted, though, they were still the most powerful mons I had up to that point--I hadn't even caught mewtwo yet. So I then go back to the E4 and rival and beat them again--this time, with a team leveled 50 through 55 when everything was said and done. IIRC, I booted up my Pokémon Blue cartridge a few years ago, and...well, the save file isn't even there. ... ...well, **** that. Quote (Glenn Magus Harvey @ 16th December 2010 01:39) In Pokémon Blue, Sabrina had me down to an underleveled pikachu, and no more items. Then later, I beat the Elite Four and the rival--who have mons levels 53 through 65 with a team with levels 48 through 52 by the time they were done. It involved lots of luck and items. But it was possible. My mons in the aforementioned Emerald game were pretty damn underleveled at times. I remember battling Juan, and we were both down to our last Pokemon (he with a Lv. 46 Kingdra, me with a Lv. 33-ish Lanturn). He had maxed out his evasion with Double Team, and whenever Thunder decided to hit, it didn't do as much damage as it could have done, thanks to the nullified weakness to Electric. I could barely attack at all anyway, between constantly healing and using Rain Dance to up Thunder's accuracy. Since he also had Rest, he could just heal whenever I happened to get lucky. And even though I was out of Revives, I did have a ton of Hyper Potions and Lemonades, so I just kept healing. When he started using Double Team repeatedly despite having max evasion, I immediately thought, "OMFG HE'S OUT OF MOVES" So yeah, I was able to get Juan's Kingdra down to using Struggle. -------------------- |
