I have used Toad Primarily since the original Super Mario Kart.
Handling is a big thing, and he generally has the best handling in the games. In Double Dash!! I use him and Koopa Troopa (for triple shells). Although my alternates on MK Wii are my Mii (Medium) and Funky Kong (he is broken and helps in getting star ratings on Grand Prix. |

I've almost always used Donkey Kong in any Mario spinoff series. Mario Kart, Mario Party, Mario sports games, etc. I say 'almost', because I WOULD use DK in mario party but they reduced his role from player-character to a single space on the game board. My heart broke that day.

I've only seriously played the original SNES Mario Kart, but in that one I used to love Koopa Troopa...he handled great and had decent enough speed, so I could take the corners going full bore and overtake my quicker competition.

As I do in every Mario game I can, I play as Luigi in the Mario Kart series.

I loved playing as Wario for Battle Mode in MK64, his laugh was just the best. Bowser was my alternate. When racing though (and battling in the other Mario Karts) I usually tend to pick little guys like Toad or Koopa.

When I first got the original SNES version, I played as Koopa Troopa. But once I got the hang of the controls, I started playing as Bowser. The handling is more difficult, and he's slow to start, but he has one of the best top speeds. In Mario Kart Super Circuit for GBA, I usually play as Peach or Bowser.

For the SNES one, I think i tried to master all the characters, but if I remember correctly, the heavy guys had the top speed and ramming capabilities, so I liked them. This carried over to the n64 version too, though, I think I preferred Bowser to DK since his sound effects were less annoying. Those are the only ones I've played.

I use Yoshi almost exclusively, with the rare exceptions of Toad and Luigi.

Mairo mostly. Yoshi on DS and Daisy on Wii.
It's not so much Funky Kong that's broken as the Bowser Bike or Bathtub Bike ("Torpedo"). His top speed stat is a bonus and makes him largely the king of time trials, but it's not that huge of a deal in races. |

I really only ever played SNES and N64, as they're the only two I ever owned (or even had the systems for which to own them). I was Yoshi all the way, because I was always so poor at the games that I needed the fast acceleration to get me back in play every time I'd goof up.

The Bowser Bike I can't seem to use comfortably because the turning on it is different for some reason. I just cant be comfortable with it, so I use the Wario Bike instead. |

I've always been a big Yoshi guy, up until I really started unlocking a lot of the characters in Wii and DS.
In DS, I'm still primarily a Yoshi guy, though I dabble with Luigi now and again. In Wii, I've gone through various phases, from Yoshi with the Mach, Dry Bones with the Wizard or Bubble, and now I'm on Bowser Jr. riding the Dolphin (Hell yeah!) and it's pretty much 'teh w1n'. Yoshi will always hold a special place, though. I remember us always trying to rush to select him in MK64, fighting over who would get to be Yoshi. I have both the originals and Wii on my Wii, and the DS one. All I'm missing is the Advance and Double Dash. On a side note, here in Vancouver they have a Mario Kart arcade from Japan! What the eff!? It's awesome! I've yet to play it, but it's so cool seeing it all huge and arcadey. Looks like Double Dash era and has Pac Man, Blinkey, a Tamagotchi thing and I forget who the other special character is. It's pretty sweet. Never knew they existed! -------------------- Games on the Go Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy: Four Warriors of Light Baldur's Gate Too much to play, so little time! Greg |

I would usually play as Koopa and other than that Toad or Peach.
Also Dry Bones more recently even. |
