update: I meant to add this as a reply to a previous Doomgaze thread but accidentally made a new topic and afterward couldn't find a way to delete the thread. If a mod can move it to the other thread, by all means. Either way, my apologies - maybe since this Doomgaze finding program hasn't been referenced yet on these forums you can forgive me : /
while reading through the second part of Djibriel's walkthrough I found a link for a working program that can work with ZSNES's (I don't know if other emulators apply) save state files to instantly find Doomgaze. I tried it and the thing works, pretty incredible. Although, I'm playing i90easts expert version 2 hack and Doomgaze instantly wiped the floor with me - either way this thing will come in handy when I have the muscle to defeat Doomgaze. Doomgaze finder link: http://www.rpglegion.com/ff6/dgf/index.htm Djibriel's walkthrough (best i've seen) http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/snes/file/f...ntasy_iii_l.txt http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/snes/file/f...asy_iii_l_2.txt It must be noted there are some proportionality differences between the map in the Doomgaze finder and the in-game overland map. Also, actually hitting the square, even when you know nearly the exact location of Doomgaze, can take some time. But the time cost should only be a couple of minutes at the absolute most. Well, you don't need an emulator. You just need some way of altering his location and of getting there in-game.
With an emulator, you can easily alter a saved-state if you know where he's located. Altering the SRAM works just as well since he never moves around until you've fought him. With an SNES, the only alternative is to use a cheat device to alter the offset into which his position is loaded. Unfortunately I don't have my FFVI ROM hacking notes handy, but I'm sure someone can provide the offset (Djibriel or MasterZed maybe?) -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

I just find Doomgaze by getting in my airship and holding down the "go" button while I eat a sandwich.

I have no doubt that you're absolutely right Silverlance. I just thought that this neat little program would be a godsent to a player that, like me, is absolutely lost when it comes to looking at hex code.

I had no doubt there was a cheat or two that would make the job easier, but you do find him eventually. Patience is a virtue, no? Interesting fact though, don't get me wrong. -------------------- Why, hello guys! Haven't been around here in a loooong time! http://dragcave.net/user/LadyTwi http://www.backloggery.com/ladytwi |
