He's a totally cool ninja and Shadow saves your ass on the Floating Continent AND in Thamasa. C'mon you've gotta wait for him. (By the way for those who said their first time through they didn't know to wait, aren't the choices "Jump!!!" and "Gotta wait for Shadow!!!" given to you?)

Yes, of course it gave those options. However the first time I played it, I was quite a bit younger and this was a pretty big part of the game, I got caught up in the moment. I thought if I waited then I might get killed, so I jumped. When looking back at it now it really does seem kinda stupid, but I can't make any excuses and I have learned from this horrible experience.

iirc, those are NOT the first choices given to you. at first it's like, "jump" and "wait..." and when you tried it enough tiomes or the timer runs low enough, the latter changes to "gotta wait for shadow." maybe someone can clarify?

The choices are "wait" and "jump". If you are on the tile that gives you the option when the timer hits 5 seconds, Shadow automatically comes for you.

I was so bad at that bit! I always got confused over which bits of floor to run over! Because I always only just made it in time, I normally waited for Shadow since I had only had about 10 secs to wait!

There wasn't really that much point in waiting though as I never bother fetching him from the Colosseum in the WoR.

You don't have to wait for Shadow, but do you really want the guilt of having killed a pixel that did nothing to deserve it? I waited for him, and try to save Cid. What would you do with all your leftover weapons other that throw them?

No, I remember when I saw the "Wait?" Screen, I thought, "What idiot would stick around here?" Well, now I know who the idiot is... *Facepalms* Explain to me how a little girl like Relm can survive falling from the Continent, but Shadow can't?

First time I didn't, cos I didn't know.
Second time by fluke I selected "Wait" then went do'h! When I selected again I saw it said "Wait for Shadow" so I went OH! and waited about.

Yeah, I waited sort of. My first time I just wanted to see if there would be a special little sequence telling me to jump if I waited and then it said, "Gotta Wait For Shadow", so I did. And since then of course I waited for Shadow, he rocks.

of course i always wait for shadow in the WOR he is always on my team, him mog and locke always are. i keep him cause he is one of the few people who is strong in regular attack and his speacial ability. plus if you have old equipment that doesnt sell for much he is a good way to get rid of it, although i can never find the shadow skean and the invis edge in the WOR.

I always wait for Shadow!I mean,the throw ability is very powerful,and even a Dirk thrown by a level 99 Shadow usually does 9999 Damage!Also,he looks really cool,and I like to do the WOR dreams thing with him.Plus,him + genji glove + striker + stunner =A dawg foo gangsta (That is a good thing!

I only waited for him because my friend who was helping me beat it the first time told me something cool would happen if I stayed on the Floating Continent until the timer ran out.

Oops, I am an idiot. Well the first time through I thought "Wait!! Why the heck would I wait? This place is falling apart, I am out of here." Then I started to look for shadow in the WOR, obviously, he didn't show up. The second time through the game was similar, but I check most of the WOB, before I left for clues. Third time through I started thinking about Interceptor and Relm. For some reason I thought I did something wrong with them. Seeing as Interceptor was Shadow's dog, Relm was found with Interceptor and Tharmasa had a picture of Shadow. I thought he got stuck in the well or next to the tree. Also, I thought Mogs Water Rondo had somthing to do with it. I had the manual and it was Mog's only dance I didn't get at the time.

Then, I realized something must have happened to the poor ninja, at the continent. It was only my fifth time through when I realized that . I actually cut my continent time down, all the way down to 30 seconds left on the clock. That was so I could look for him. No matter how much I tried I didn't find Shadow until I went back to the jump point. I noticed it said something like Have to jump now. and Gotta wait for Shadow. By that time the clock was at 15 seconds, thought Kefka killed shadow by then. I abandoned him again. Sixth time through I cut my time down to one minute left on the clock. I told myself "The the event must be timed for a reason.". I waited 30 seconds for him. Again, he didn't come. That is when I gave up and looked it up on the net. I was so close. At least I beat the rest of the game beforehand (Except getting Mog in the WOB). I am so stupid .

This part of the post is semi-related. I always saved Cid because I had a leave no man behind policy. Sorry Shadow, my policy failed you . I never got Mogs Water rondo, untill I looked it up on the net as well. It had nothing to do with Shadow, like I thought it did.

Maybe I should make a rumor on the alternate way to get Shadow and Mogs Water Rondo. You know, for the rumors section. Maybe. Might as well fix my grammer while I am here.

Nope. I spent HOURS looking for that bastard om the WoR. No avail. Ever since then i realized my folly and have waited. I voted no though basing it on intitial play through.

why do you guys keep refering to shadow as "him"? you know shadow is a girl right. says so in her dream sequence and when you find her in the cave.


edit: i always thought he was a he , but my current game i realize they call him a she twice, and in the dream sequence the guy told interceptor to "stay with the girl" so i finally assumed it was a girl.

Shadow is Relm's father. And if you want the evidence just Google it, there are a million sites out there that explain it.

I actually did wait for Shadow my first time through. I tried to jump off the continent twice, then the option "gotta wait for shadow" showed up. I figured, "why dont I wait for him" and then I did. I have to admit though, I was about to jump off when Shadow apperaed at the 5 second mark.

The reason that happened is because the programmers forgot to change the text message to clarify between shadow and relm ( because if you don't wait for shadow, you find relm in the cave instead and the game calls relm a "her" ). Shadow is indeed a man, and is relm's father. If you need further proof of shadow's masculinity, look at the scene where you find him in south figaro. "Wait, that's SHADOW! He'd slit his mamma's throat for a nickel!" "Better steer clear of him I guess."

ooops I forgot to wait for him, unfortuantly I forgot to wait for him, and I do not know why I forgot.

You gotta have Shadow, man. He throws stuff!

Cid... argh, that's the most annoying part of the game. Sometimes I save him. Either way it's a time consuming hassle.

It depends on what you mean. If you mean:
"Is it possible to run out of time on the floating continent" yes it is. I have run out of time before and all that happens is that FC starts falls down with you on it and then game over screen appears. That is why I never waited untill the five second mark to jump when I reached the end. That is untill I looked it up on the net.

If you mean:
"Is it possible to die once you reach the end and start waiting for Shadow on that on particular tile." I don't think so. I never just chose to wait just once, I have always chosen it twice to get the special message "Gotta wait for Shadow.". Interestingly, if you leave that last tile for any reason and let the timer run out, even if you were waiting, the FC will fall.

All of this made it impossible for me to wait longer then one minute at the end of FC. I always thought I would die. The closest I ever got before I looked it up was 10 seconds left on the clock. In my above post, I forgot to mention that I thought for a short while the boat to South Figaro might have had to do with it. It made sense to me, get Water Rondo by a battle on that boat, get Shadow to join you afterwards and find him willing to re-join his comrades in the WOR. Every other theory I had is probably covered in my above post but I am not comepletly sure about that. I was realy obsessed at the time and tried allot of stupid stuff.

On a side note "Sadly, no trace of them was ever found." Is the death quote from FF: Crystal Chronicals. In FFVI this is what happens. The game switches out to the game over screen, with your party leader and the words "Game Over" over your head. In addition a death tune plays so you might like to kill yourself intenionaly once to hear it. I recommend Dino Forest if anybody wants to try that.

Sorry Shadow... I ALWAYS wait for him now, but the first time I played it (back in the day on the console), even though it prompted me to wait, when the ticker got low I got antsy and took off.... Didn't know if it would take time to get off the island, or if there was another fight or something like that, plus, I really didn't think he'd die there... It's Shadow...

of course, the only time i missed him was my first time through, because i do not use strat guides, the seecond time i found him by accident, i decided to wait to see what would happen to see if there was a glitch in that spot, for some reason game developers do that kind of thing, ya know, forget to program in something else, (ex: beating something you are not supposed to can lead to weird glitches and game lockups!)

I meant to wait for him on my first game, but I failed. I got to the end and when the choices came up I chose to wait. I waited and waited and got a little nervous as the time went down. I still expected him to show up, but I was worried about making the jump in time afterwards.

So I went to the last tile and got the choices of Jump and Wait for Shadow. I waited on those choices until 0:01 and clicked Jump.

...

Turns out he doesn't show up if you're on that menu.

That was the only time I left him behind though.
