Well I have a DSL modem but I remember the times when I had a 56 k modem and I would kill myself every time I would go to sites like this that look very nice.  Now that I have a DSL it's all changed and I like it when sites look good not just black things with white text.  But... there are people with 56 k and I think it would be cool if you had another CoN layout for slower connections.

I had 56K when I made the CoN5 layout (and I'm back on it now, for the summer) and I tried to make sure it wasn't too hideous on load times.

However, you should note you can change BOTH your site and forum style to something less intensive.  The site's CoN3 and CoN4 styles (and indeed, the forum versions) are light on graphics.  Even any of the Arch styles are a one-time load penalty, no switching art.

Please check the what we have already before asking for it. :)

(FWIW, white-on-black is no less download-intensive than black-on-white.)

And just to prove a point, I ran some load time tests for you with clicktaxi.com. All tests were run with the CoN5 skin at the site and the forums.

Long story short, even on our most bandwidth-intensive skins, viewers to this site have nothing to complain about. Combine that with the fact that we have less bandwidth-heavy layouts already available to the public, and I would hope you feel a bit silly about your post.

As many chatgoers know, I regrettedly still have dialup. And I've never ever had a problem with layouts loading or any problems with the site related to my connection.

Here at the house, I have a 28k connection (arrrggg), and I think the site's load time is fine.  And I run CON5!

Wow thats really impressive.  I didn't know CoN (even 5) was so quick to load (even for dialup).  I just thought because I used to go to sites like this with 56k and it took forever escpecially Gamespy.  I feared having to go there lol.  But thumbs up for making such a great (and load friendly) site. :nods:

I don't think we can thank the staff enough for this fine website that they have given us.  Not only are you all great people, you are also greatly dedicated to the CoN and, by extension, us lowly users; this example of the low load times only goes to prove the technical superiority of the CoN.  ^_^  I salute you.
