Exactly what the title says. In the FIRST GAME, Mali have made a comeback from 4-0 down to force a draw against the holders Angola, with two goals IN THE 90th MINUTE! I'm positively buzzing.
Can't let the attacks on the Togo bus get us down, now it's all about football. Edit And I forgot to mention, the comeback came within the last 11 minutes and there were three penalties in total, two for Angola. It's bonkers football at its best. Pretty hard tournament to follow here in the States, but that match sounds like something I should try to find. That's unreal, and you're right, only possible in Africa - probably not all for the best reasons.
![]() I almost wish that the Togolese government would have allowed their team to stay on as a big "bleep you" to the folks behind the attack, but it's probably for the best that they're heading home. It's a shame, nothing more to be said about it. Edit Well, except that only in Africa would the tournament even go on at this point, I'm sure. ![]() This post has been edited by Rangers51 on 10th January 2010 23:32 -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

But, i like to say that EVERY game is a game. We can't always talk about sports like it's a war. I'm italian, and, you know, every sunday before and/or after the soccer/football (call it whatever you prefer) something always happens between fans. Togolese players should head home, in respect of the sacred of humanity, as first talk, and of sports' code. Here in italy, fortunately, we got no problems to see the African Cup. I got my Senegal friends, i know the boys i'm gonna watch the game with. I think that Ivory Coast will win the Cup. I mean, Drogba can make earthquake the world by his name itself. -------------------- #1 Italian in The Caves of Narshe :D Mercenary Dark Knight Knight: Great, here comes a crowd! Gafgarion! Hah that's true. I'm hoping the Ivory Coast will get controversially knocked out by a poor referee decision so old Didier can give the man an earfull at the end of the game. It's like +6 minutes of entertainment value.

So what do you guys think about Togo not being allowed back at all? Reasonable or no?

It's ridiculous. A three-day mourning period isn't exactly too much to ask is it?

Well that's the Ivory Coast out of it. I'm startled that Drogba's refused penalty claim was genuine, he didn't do a lot of complaining on the pitch, and that he didn't make much of an impact on the game apparently. I think his heart's now in Chelsea. Algeria or Egypt will surely win it now.
As for the world cup, the England, US, Algeria and Slovenia group now looks like it'll be a lot of fun to watch. I presume that England will take top, especially now that Sol Campbell's back and playing as if he hasn't been injured for about half the season, but you never know. Second spot will be heavily fought for. I'm hoping the US go through (really!) but now that I've seen Algeria and Slovenia playing well above their average I'm sure by the summer they'll be a hard couple of teams to put down. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Lack of coverage over here made it hard to follow, but after learning today that Egypt won it, I'm not at all shocked. That was a hardcore team at the Confed, so I'm not surprised they put in a good showing here either.
Sure is a shame we'll not see them in June. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |
