What do you think is the coolest desperation attack? I thought the royal shock was nice.(edgar) post your ideas

EDIT:You can always go to the CoNff6Characters Section and look at the desperation attacks.

Ive only seen two myself. I saw Edgar's and Mog's attack. I did like Edgar's most so I have to go with him. I was always to strong to use them.

My favourite has got to be Sabin's Tigerbreak...

I once heard a rumour that Gau had one called 'Rage Out' but as yet this has been unfounded.

No Gau doesn't have a despiration attack. I haven't seen all of them but I also like Sabin's. The dumb thing is it happens so fast that you can't even see Sabin's kick sprite. Plus he's covered with that aura thingamabob so you can't really see him. I bet X-Meteo is very cool.

i always liked mirager, even though its not super strong or even that nice to look at. theres just something about it. runner up would probably be riot blade.

I remember the first time I saw anything like this was against Wrexsoul with Mog. You need to keep your characters relitivly low on health in that battle, so I guess it was an appropriot time to witness something like this.

I thought to mysefl "What the hell!?"

I know I could go see them on the site, but it takes several clicks...

my favorite is shadows, which IIRC is interceptor running out and doing quite a bit of damage. Sure this happens randomly even if shadows health isn't low, but when its the desperation attack, interceptor does alot more damage.

Actually, Shadow's special desperation attack is Shadow Fang, and interceptor only comes out when shadow gets hit. I also liked shadow fang as well as royal shock

I've been playing FFVI for years now, finished it at least 4 times (not much compared to some, I know), and I've never seen a desperation attack. I guess I'm just too paranoid when it comes to my characters, I don't let them stay weak enought to do one, I always end up healing them too soon. The few times I let them hover near-death they always got knocked off before they did a desperation attack.

Difficulty has a lot to do with how often you see despiration attacks. In Expert Version 2 I've seen despiration attacks like 6 times in this one game alone. blink.gif In the original game it's quite easy to keep your characters from ever performing a despiration attack which is why some people never see them.

I've only seen two, and unfortunately, I've been accidentally fast-forwarding through them. Tiger Fang and Royal Shock. I like Tiger Fang better because it has the cool extra Sabin sprite.

What most people don't know is that there is a special desperation attack when you don't have a weapon equipped.....it's called Lightning Fist.

Locke was the only one I've seen use it...I was in Locke's Scenario for the first time, and I didn't realize he was unequipped....anyway, like an idiot, I fought one of the magitek soldiers there....and Locke was at critical HP and he did Lightning Fist.

The only one I have seen so far is Celes' and it was pretty cool. I am so used to recovering my characters once they get below a certain amount of HP they rarely get a chance to do their desperation attacks. It is hard to do and rare even once they are at critical so for me it is not something I will waste time doing.

I like Mog's desperation attack because he's a bad-ass, cool moogle. Sabin's is runner up, I suppose

I don't recall ever seeing a "Lightning Fist" in the data of the ROM, but I'll check it out. Until then, I'm gonna have to say that this = false.

Of course you don't, it isn't there.

The only attacks that go over the 10 character limit (the longest in the spell list, where Near Fatal names reside BTW) are SwdTechs, and they only go to 12. This "Lightning Fist" is 14. No attack goes to 14.

Also, considering it's Locke who did this, do you not suppose he just made up the name because he didn't see that the name of the attack was Mirager?

I've seen Cyan's BackBlade, Sabin's TigerBreak, the Mirager (I forget who uses it), and Relm's Star Prism (which missed so tongue.gif). BackBlade is my favorite so far. When I first saw one of these (considering it did 12x the damage of my regularattack) I was....surprised.

I've seen all of them (I forced my guys to use them on Intagir, I know, I'm cruel!)

And I prefer Sabin's Tiger Break and Edgar's Royal Shock. They look too cool!

And welcome aboard, JFA_bobguy!

In normal gameplay (IOW, without cheating) I've only seen 4 of them: Locke's, Gogo's, Mog's, and Setzer's. Graphically speaking, I have to say I like Mog's MoogleRush and Setzer's Red Card the best.

Of course, with the right Game Genie code you can see any of them via the Lore command. That's fun if you wanna see rare spells.

Ahh...I see now...thanks for correcting my error, Master ZED and Rubicant.

I must have been 11 or 12 at the time, and I guess I didn't see Mirager or something...

Thanks anyway, I must have rememberd wrong.

I didn't mean to start a rumor, I honestly thought it was true.

On the subject of seeing the attacks, I've seen them all. Took some time out one day to check up on them. My favorites are Tiger Break and SabreSoul.

StarPrism sucks. =P

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Pummel was necessary to kill Vargas,
so I kept hitting and being hit until Sabin did 8000 or so damage with Tiger Break.

I was blown away, and I had chills; but he didn't die from it. xD

CoN has all of the Desperation Attacks recorded on their respective character pages for FF VI

That's all folks, I'm here all week.

Oh god, I don't think the desperation attacks themselves are so awesome as your characters launching them at the most opportune times ever.

Mirager against TunnelArmr is always lulzworthy.

Sabin's TigerFang was pretty awesome, though. I've seen most of them in my various playthroughs without forcing any of them.
