If by "easy", you mean cheap, go into battle with two dead guys, when he does the thing with his tentacles, use Phoenix, then KoR him to death.

you can skip the pheonix, all you need is one character with KotR with hp absorb and mime. If you don't have enough HP to survive his attacks (Comet is his best if I remember correctly) add enough HP plus materia to survive.
1)Cast KotR 2)Mime 3)Repeat until you win. I found this fight to suck really bad, maybe I'll end up trying it sometime without KotR. -------------------- What would Zorro do?-Homer Simpson |

You can even pair Command Counter with Mime, so that if Ruby attack, you respond with another KoR.
If you're looking for masterizing materia, try to use Dazers on Ruby, revive the two party members, and then start the big KoR combo. |

A slower, but much safer way to kill Ruby than just running Knights of Round over and over is to use Hades as well, which will put Stop on Ruby. I recommend taking in two dead guys, too, as stated before.
You can fairly well ignore the tentacles if Ruby is stopped. While they continue to wiggle, they don't attack you unless Ruby is mobile. HP Absorb with KoR is indeed good, and should make back any HP you lose in a round where it does get a chance to attack. If you don't have Mime, you could try pairing it with MP Absorb instead, to make back more MP to cast it again. |

I forget if its ruby or emerald but try using final attack phoenix with one person and thenKoR-quadramagic-hp/mp swicth.

like most of the replies have already stated, it is best to go into battle with two dead characters. in fact, i suggest that you don't even bother reviving them. when i beat ruby, i was doing it to get a gold chocobo so i could get kotr, and thus, i didn't have kotr when fighting him. instead, i used, i believe, that very powerful materia that contains spells like flare and such (or maybe i used comet). the method of attack is not important, so long as you are dealing copious amounts of damage to him at regular intervals. go in with a lot of ehters and elixers, and
[here is the most important part] equip your character with the "minerva;" it has 50% magic evasion, which means that on avg, only 2 of the 4 comets from comet 2 will hit you. this makes the battle insanely easier (but still most difficult than emerald, imo). |

It took me a long time to figure it out, but once I did it wasn't such a hectic battle. I didn't even have to kill 2 of my party-members. Just use this stuff.
-at least on character with KotR, combined with MP Turbo or quadra magic, Magic Plus materia, and W-summon if you have it. -fire absorption for all. (Ruby Flame will heal you) -Ribbons for at least 2 characters. -White Wind and Big Guard from enemy skill. -levels all above 80 -Mime for at least 1 character. -and most importantly Phoenix with Final Attack Materia. I suggest killing Emerald first. The rewards will help too. -------------------- Get me off this Disciplinary Committee so I can play any FF except for FF8!!! |

Mime elixers when you can... this will allow you to indefinitely string together survival from non death-producing attacks.

What you wanna do is KO two characters, wait for Ruby to stick his tentacles in the ground an' W-Summon Hades + Knights of the Round, then Mime.
This will cause him to be stopped so he doesn't be like "OI" and counter attack with some craziness like Ultima, and of course, KotR will deal roughly 100ks of damage and knock off 1/7 of his HP. He's screwed now ![]() Have fun killing Ruby and getting your Golden Chocobo! Of course, you need to put HP absorb on KotR, so...
