Ok i got a question folks.
Recently i've been getting some very strange npc behavior. There was these 2 guards out in the middle fo nowhere having a bow duel taking turns throwing arrows at eachother, and i went smack in the middle because i heard it and was walking around got hit by a arrow and did varios 360 degree turns to find out who was attacking and found 2 imperials at eachothers throat. Is this normal behavior? it seems very off for 2 guards to do such a thing and it sounds like a bug. Another weird behavior is,in the alchemist shop in the rows were all the crates are,it isn't the one in the topmost northeast corner, not sure if i explain myself well.Anyways i entered this store and the owner ran out and got attacked by guards so i opened and loaded last loaded area before then and got back into the store and after chasing that character and saving her life another character from the black horse courier runs out and gets killed by 2 guards and im like WTF? have these guys gone homicidal? are they completely insane? What is up with bethdesa anyways? it is becoming tiresome to encounter such odd problems, the least they could do is ensure that none of the important characters like store owners or quest related die. I mean sure there are tones of useless characters to kill off,one is the nº 1 fan guy you get after becoming a arena grand champion. They were Imperial Foresters right? The dudes with bracers and bows?If so then yeah this is common behavior. They normaly occupy themselves by shooting inoccent deer which are fast and evade arrows quite easily and it's quite common to find more than one forester in the same cell. Anyways they fire arrows at ye olde deer miss, hit each other and try to kill each other.
I was once just randomly walking around Cyrodil when a message popped up saying one of the characters needed to complete this quest has died. a game day later I was walking in Leyawin countryside when I found a dead (Forgot his name) Argonian, resurrected him and got a quest which I couldn't finish because the Argonian had pegged. Beth makes brilliant games that have really bad flaws. Morrowind did nothing but crash, Oblivion has these weird glitches and still crashes every now and then and the only other Beth game that I've played is the Pirates of the Carribean(No relation to the movie 'cept for the Black Pearl) which crashed a lot. -------------------- Since I advertise CoN there I think it's only fair that I advertise The Wiki here. |

Oblivion suffers from poor programing and is full of glitches. Nothing new, really.

As to the other question, yes it was the ranger guys. Still, how do i resurrect a npc that died? And is there a way to fix the bug that the shops don't restock? I cannot get enough cash to finish the thief sidequest. -------------------- We are stardust. Our bodies are made from the guts of exploding stars. Neil Degrasse Tyson. |

I haven't seen that bug you're talking about. It's not at all hard to imagine, however.
I love bugs in games. Oblivion has so many that it's hard to narrow it down to a few, but I've got two favourites I'd like to share. At the beginning of the game Baurus is nearly invulnerable, unlike later. If you want to instigate a really good fight, attack Baurus to make his chase you in the sewers, then at the last gate before leaving change your race to a Khajiit and use the native fear spell on him. This will make him run away from you and leave the sewer. Now, he will still be trying to fight you, so run to the Imperial City where the soldiers will all attack Baurus. All you need to do is yield to him and watch a nigh-on-invincible Baurus trying to fight off all the soldiers of the empire! I really want to make Baurus chase me all the way to Oblivion. That would be brilliant: Baurus vs. hell. Don't say I didn't warn 'ya. The other one is not as funny or entertaining, but still quite good. There was one instance where I was killing the Imperial soldiers and they started spawning on my head as beggers. That was really bizarre. They had the same voices as Imperials and wanted to fight me but only with daggers and dirty clothes. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. If you are playing the PC version here is a list of console commands and there is a resurrect command. If you are on the PS3 or 360 then you can not fix it.

Waiting three game days outta town should get them to restock if it doesn't most stores suck anyways. I live like a savage in the wilderness raiding caves for loot and sleeping in the bandit camps. the only time I buy stuff is when I need Money or spells. No store sells Daedric Equipment.

Dang!! that really sucks. These bugs damage the replayability and make the game get stuck and have issues. I hate that the game crashes at the end of the Clavicus Vile quest. But I like keeping the sword, so it works out okay

Quote (Magitek_slayer @ 20th July 2009 17:53) Dang!! that really sucks. Does it suck because you can't buy daedric equipment? Daedric Equipment looks like CRAP! And can potentially crash your game should you try to equip a full set all at once because of its complexity. Also almost everyone has glass or daedric armour now at my level. also if you want daedric armour go to the marauder forts and kill the marauder bosses. For glass armour go raid bandit caves and kill the bandit leaders but a word of advice. These high level armours look like crap. go for ebony or elven armour but leave the helms. The only good looking helms in the game is the Legion Horseman Helms. -------------------- Since I advertise CoN there I think it's only fair that I advertise The Wiki here. |

I've discovered the most random glitch ever! My ground has turned purple! I was running along happily minding my own beeswax when suddenly the game lags and the ground goes Purple!! I reloaded a save and all was well. Also theres a glitch (at least I think its a glitch ) that makes your character trip! You equip something that fortifys your strength then you run then you jump and unequip the fortify strength thing (dunno if this works everytime)

From what I understand of Bethesda, they have one of the largest and most dedicated modding communities specifically because all their games are so buggy. A good size of the 'mods' for Oblivion for example, are actually bug fixes the developers never bother to correct, or so I've heard.
All this to say that you might wanna peruse the interwebz for Oblivion mods to fix yer troubles. -------------------- |

It's all part of their devious plan
they make a buggy game and people make mods for it this way they keep the public hooked on it for years I wonder if theres a fix for the rotating NPCs glitch?...(you talk to them and during conversation their torso rotates vertically but the head stays in the same position on the neck following the torso) The knights of the nine mod is buggy. I love games for glitches. Brilliantly entertaining!
As for Oblivion. I had to go through 2 pre-owned X-Box 2's and a PS3 before I could play the thing for more than half an hour without it crashing. That wasn't entertaining, that was bloody annoying. Ever get attacked by City Guards not knowing what you've done wrong? Happens. Also fighting in the street, some poor begger or whatever is getting started on by the guards for apparently no reason and you rush to their aid but once they've decided to kill someone they are gonna kill them whether you can get your shield in the way or not. I remember at the end of a mission killing a rogue mage on a road off a pub near Anvil: I had to wait for the Imperial Horseman to get away from where i'd confront the mage because everytime I didn't he'd end up in a battle with the girl who was helping me and take her out. Random. It's also funny coming across dead charactors and picking up the keys to their houses so that one day you might find where the person lived, so you can try tell the family what happened. ![]() Thinking about it, probably none of these are glitches, they just seem to be. Anyway, I'll continue: Some Deadra after you kill them don't half twitch! Important charactors falling into lava in oblivion and falling 'unconcious'. Then getting up and falling 'unconcious' again. And again until you go through a door and lo and behold: There they are! Shadowmere disappearing forever after a nasty encounter at the Anvil Oblivion gate. Never saw that horse again on that playthrough. Gutted, I missed the speed. Methedriel going unconcious when your on the other side of the world. Stupid girl! ![]() |
