I was thinking:
Maybe i was a bit unfair as years ago i gave the rating and was thinking maybe the spinoffs explain ff7 better. Are there any spinoffs worth getting currently? And do they help explain ff7 better? And: When is it said that the remake for ps3 to come out? I want to like it,but it's hard as i cannot stand cloud strife or sephiroth, especially since the marketing. I'm trying to find something good about it to say to at least be a bit optimistic. As far as I'm aware there isn't a date for a PS3 FFVII. I read this week that the possibility of a remake has once again not been ruled out by Square Enix, however.
I thoroughly enjoyed Last Order, the cartoon of the Nibelheim events involving Cloud, Zack and Sephiroth. Aside from Sephiroth jumping into the lifestream rather than being thrown in there by Cloud, it's consistent with the original story and would certainly help you to understand it better. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Quote (Dark Paladin Danny @ 31st August 2009 13:07) I enjoyed Crisis Core far more than I enjoyed the original Final Fantasy VII The characters had actual personalities and I even liked Sephiroth in it Is crisis core the one with zack? You know the action one that zack stars in with his sword n all and fights around. Or is that dirge of cerberus? I think it is always good to try and stray from public and attempt to see things for yourself. I only have experience with the original, and i feel sad that i can bias on the original when maybe the other ones might enhance my experience. Crisis Core is the prequel starring Zack Fair.
It's a good RPG with a decent system, some amusing side-story (and in-game fanclubs). It shows some of the improtant stuff that happenned in the FF7-verse, including the infamous Nibelheim incident. The ending is heart-gripping and I sincerely recommend this game. Dirge of Cerberus takes place a couple of years after the main game, is a decent third person shooter with some RPG elements, lets you play as Vincent (still a Turk in the tutorial). It's a decent action game with some annoying moments (at least I'm annoyed at them), cool weapon customisation and a "virtual mission" side game. The main FF7 is worth playing, in my opinion at least, even if you don't like it much. The system is one of the better in the series, some of the characters are awesome or beyond (who exactly, depends on the player) and although the story is lacking at some points it delivers and I fairly enjoyed it. I only take Issue with Cloud and Sephiroth being wastes of space. -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. I don't know for sure if its true but it went like this: Every person who seems to rant and complain about dirge of cerberus seems to complain about the dificulty, the game was meant for rpg players, aside from that, you can choose higher dificulties if you find it too easy. -------------------- We are stardust. Our bodies are made from the guts of exploding stars. I couldn't agree more with this. Last Order is great. As far as any spin-off games are concerned, I haven't been impressed enough to actually go out and purchase any of them; that said, this means I haven't played any of them, and they may very well be excellent. |

I think all the spin offs were a good extension to the original story, the problem i really had was the gameplay.
Except for Advent Children it didn't really elaborate on the story too much but i loved it. The fight scenes were spectacular, and i liked seeing how the characters looked with todays technology. Then again I'm also a fan of anime. -------------------- "You don't need a reason to help people." |

As far as I know there's no plans to do a remake of Final Fantasy VII.
If Squarenix decides to do it, though, it would be nice if they fix the flaws with the 1/35 Soldiers and the Masamune Replicas. I'd also like if they make the bosses to give 0 EXP each. This post has been edited by edgemty on 5th September 2009 05:36 -------------------- Yep, I'm here. |

It won't wonder me if they are going to publish a remake of FF VII considering how much you even pay NOWADAYS for this over 10 years old game.

I heard on some places about old ff7 going for 100 bucks or so. I cannot confirm if its true or not -------------------- We are stardust. Our bodies are made from the guts of exploding stars. IIRC, to unlock Hard Mode you had to beat the game at normal. But I'm not complaining about the difficulty, I'm annoyed at the following: The double jump is nigh-useless, while the single jump is just useless. This game had platforming potential, it shows that it wanted to use it and then goes away. The controls are a bit different between gun mode and melee mode. Or rather, the controls for melee mode are... lacking ...in comparison to gun mode. It made me use guns at melee proximity, since it made me lose less HP. -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. It would surprise me, though. Squarenix has been asked several times about a FF7 remake. And they surely know that many FF7 fans really want a remake to be made. However, they refuse to do so. I dunno why they refuse to do. Perhaps they feel that the game is perfect the way it is (even with all its glitches and bugs and incomplete items), or perhaps they don't want to risk ruining the original game. I mean, perhaps they think that changing its graphics and perhaps fixing its bugs will make it lose its essence. Or perhaps they think that it would be pointless. However, I do think that graphics improvement (without changing the style), along with bug fixing (and making the game more difficult... and perhaps adding sidequests...) would be a great idea. -------------------- Yep, I'm here. |

This is one cow that has been milked too much. Time to find another cow to milk What they should have done to start with, instead of all the parodies, they should have waited and made a remake with the story recompiled and the blocky graphics improved. The sidequests are just extras. -------------------- We are stardust. Our bodies are made from the guts of exploding stars. Neil Degrasse Tyson. |
