Posting about rumors is a tricky business, but it happens. Might as well make a thread for it. But the real reason for this thread is because of two industry rumors that piqued my interest:
Behold: islandofrhodes.org. It's a God of War teaser site, but all we have are Kratos glaring at us and a countdown dated for this Wednesday at midnight, US/Canada EST. Sony is shutting up about what this game is, only telling us that it's not about the upcoming God of War PSP game. The site also has Sony logos and PS2 logos, but no PS3 or PSP logos. So what is it? A remake of God of War I? A special edition of God of War 2? A preliminary annoucement for God of War III? I have no idea, but I'll probably start stalking that website around 11:56 PM tomorrow. And look at this: some leaked Phoenix Wright 3 info. The authenticity of this is questionable, but according to a thread at the PW fansite court-records.net, the computers at the large game retailer GameCrazy have a new entry for a game called Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations dated for September 25th, 2007. Similar things have happened before at large retailers for upcoming games, but the possibility of DS port of the third Phoenix Wright game has been in doubt for awhile. Only a word from Capcom could confirm this, but for now things are looking positive for fans of the handheld-wacky-lawyer-adventure genre. So yeah, comment on those tidbits or post your own, with sources of course. Let the rumors roll. -------------------- |

Am I allowed to post about rumors and commentary on them in general?
If so, I'd like to point out that I'd still like to see higher-res images taken from an actual "Shin Dracula X" project--in other words, I wouldn't mind another Rondo-of-Blood-style game...preferably with mid-1990s graphics (rather than pseudo-3D effects...). Also, I have this nice big image file (that includes text) that documents how to create the "Dual Moons" rumor from just a few images and a recent cover of GamePro. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. We all know about Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and Final Fantasy Agito XIII, but what about the other two?
Around a year ago, at the same time Square-Enix trademarked Versus and Agito XIII, they also put a trademark on "Final Fantasy Haeresis XIII" without making any announcements about a game with that title. Now, they could just sit on this trademark and having nothing come from it until it expires (just like what happened with Chrono Break), or it could be yet another FF XIII game. But more recently (earlier today, in fact), Square-Enix registered a fifth FF XIII trademark in the United States: Final Fantasy Dissidia XIII. No idea what this one is, but Square-Enix is definitely taking this Fabula Nova Crystallis FF XIII thing seriously. -------------------- |

Square-Enix is going to show off a bunch of stuff at a two-day event next week - already announced are a new original game called Last Remnant and the FF XII International remake, but also rumored to show up is Dissidia FF XIII, supposedly a fighting game for the PSP. But that's not all; my source also tells me that there's a 3D DS remake of Final Fantasy IV in the works.

I'd have to get any remake of FFIV that came out. I love that game!
As for FFXII International... Do we have any real reason to think that that will even make it to the states? I probably wouldn't buy it if it did--it wasn't that long ago that I bought the original version of the game, and, while it was fun to play, I don't feel the urge to play through it again any time soon. (And I just bought the guide for the regular version! Sure, it was because it had Balthier on the cover, but still! They'd have to add a massive amount of stuff for me to buy this game again.) -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

Am I the only one who would be saddened by a FF IV 3D? I love the game to bits, but shouldn't SE put more focus on a new project & wait a few more years, because they've just released FF IV Advanced less than a year ago?

First Starcraft 2, now Diablo 3? A lot of people are saying that Blizzard might drop another bomb about another new sequel of one of their three popular series at BlizzCon in the first week of August. Is this rumor as true as the Starcraft 2 one turned out to be? No idea, but here's to hoping.

![]() Look on the right side. This image lifted from an upcoming Circuit City price catalogue seems to indicate a price drop for the PS3. This could mean it's just for Circuit City, or it could mean that Sony is actually lowering the MSRP for the holiday season. Whichever it turns out to be, this makes buying a PS3 a hundred bucks easier. -------------------- |

A hundred off of impossibly expensive is still impossibly expensive. Maybe they just wanted an even half-grand.
But after how the past week went, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony was able to sell a quick million by just changing the name to "iPS3". -------------------- I find your lack of faith disturbing... |

i read on ign.com a while back that sony was going to down-grade their "cell" thingy in order to drop PS3 prices on one or both. this was last year, and it said that the price drop would happen sometime mid-this year.
and for everything that is in the PS3, it is a good deal, i guess. not like most of us want/need any of it. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! Have a listen! |

A bunch of TGS rumors concerning Square-Enix
Quote Endless Crisis: Final Fantasy VII to be announced at TGS? Posted on September 18th, 2007 at 05:44 EDT According to Jeux-France and 2ch, Square Enix will be showing a selection of new titles at the Tokyo Game Show later this week, including Star Ocean 4, Kingdom Hearts, and Endless Crisis: Final Fantasy VII for the PlayStation 3. Here is the rumored list of titles to make an appearance: - Endless Crisis: Final Fantasy VII (PlayStation 3) - Final Fantasy XIII (PlayStation 3) - Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PlayStation 3) - Kingdom Hearts (working title) (PlayStation 3) - Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories 2 (Nintendo DS) - Kingdom Hearts 0 (PSP) - Star Ocean 4 (PlayStation 3) Until further confirmation from Square Enix, this list should be treated as nothing more than speculation. We can expect to hear more soon however as it's been said that Japanese publication Famitsu will be unveiling this information within the next 24 hours. Stay tuned to PSU for more details as they break. We know that Star Ocean 4 is going to have some TGS exposure, but the earlier announcement didn't give us a system for it. And if this turns out to be true, then holy **** - where are the Wii and 360 games? Is Square-Enix throwing their lot in with the PS3? -------------------- |

also, any news of a new grandia perhaps? Quote And if this turns out to be true, then holy **** - where are the Wii and 360 games? Is Square-Enix throwing their lot in with the PS3? thats interesting, cause the PS3 ain't lookin too hot right now. course, i expect that to change some when squenix starts pumpin out their lineup. but still, i would like to see squenix go to the 360 as well. not the Wii, just xbox and ps3. i think that would be more profitable for them, especially if they want to attract new fans to RPGs. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! Square-Enix's presentation started up a little while ago - they kicked off their TGS display with an announcement of three Kingdom Hearts games:
Quote Tokyo Game Show 2007: New Kingdom Hearts Games Revealed First details on the three new iterations for PSP, DS, mobile. By Andrew Hayward, 09/19/2007 Square Enix's Tokyo Game Show presentation is currently going down in Japan and we've got the first details on the trio of new Kingdom Hearts titles. Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep for PSP looks to be a single-player adventure in the vein of the PlayStation 2 iterations, though not "Kingdom Hearts III." Birth by Sleep's protagonist was not explicitly named in the presentation, but he looked an awful lot like Zack of Final Fantasy VII/Crisis Core fame. Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days for Nintendo DS appears to star Roxas from Kingdom Hearts II, but its main draw looks to be four-player simultaneous play using members of Organization XIII. It will be in full 3D. Kingdom Hearts: Coded is a mobile game, likely for Japanese cell phones. It stars the familiar cast of main characters from the original Kingdom Hearts (Sora & co.) and seems to be set between the first and second PlayStation 2 titles. Each title is said to have a time-related theme: Birth by Sleep is "the distant past," KH: 358/2 Days is "time of the other side," and Code is "time has gone by." More as it comes! (source) I'll stay up and follow along as the night goes on - after they wrap it up, I'll make a proper-sized newspost about the whole shebang. -------------------- |
