This past summer I finally managed to complete my Dragon Ball Z collection thanks to the orange bricks season box sets and I couldn't have been happier. Well, now I'm not so sure that buying the orange bricks was the right thing to do, now Funimation is releasing the original Dragon Box collection saying that this is the definite DBZ collection for the dragonball purist. This is the set that was released in Japan in two separate volumes. One of them featuring Goku and Frieza Stage 1 on the cover and the second one has Super Saiyan Goku and Imperfect Cell. Unlike the japanese release, the north american version will not be complete in two volumes, the north american version already has two volumes, I think up to episode 87. The BIG difference between the two versions (Dragon Box VS Orange Bricks) is that the D Box is presented in 4:3 format, the shows original ratio, while the O Bricks are presented in 16:9, something that many fans didn't like, but at the same time was not that big of a deal considering the price of the season sets ($39.99) versus the old VHS and DVD releases that went from $14.99 to $29.99 for some 3 to 4 episodes per volume.

Nothing I can do now, all I can think about to comfort myself is that I've been enjoying the series all over again ever since season one was released early 2007. If you missed the orange bricks then now it's the time to get DBZ on it's original pure form via Dragon Box. I don't care much about the Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT Box editions since the season sets are in 4:3, but the Dragon Ball Z Box edition is a must for any DBZ fan if they don't have it already.

Can't wait to get my hands on the new Dragon Ball sets, FINALLY the original Dragon Ball in DVDs that don't cost a hundred dollars each.

I love DBZ and I would love to own the entire collection... I'm too cheap though. I always look for DVDs when I'm in pawnshops. Can't beat $3 for some DBZ action.

I never got into the original DB or DBGT. I think GT was a mistake.
