Well it's been two weeks since PSN was taken offline and here we are, still no PSN. So, how many of you are still waiting? Who traded or bought an XBOX 360? (just to play Black Ops?) Are you scared your credit information was stolen from SONY? Have you've been playing PS3 at all?

I have been hitting single players hard and watching LOTS of anime via PS3's internet browser. Thought about trading the PS3 for an XBOX 360, but decided not to. Blu ray is too good to downgrade to DVD.

Haha. I hear ya. Ive been catching up on trophies nowadays. NEarly finished all Dead Space 2 stuff and been trying to finish up FF13 and Castlevania.

It'll be good to have the PSN back up and running again to see how old friends have been. All in the meantime I'm glad I got Moon divers before the psn went down. Really fun and fast paced game. Kills the hours for sure.

As for a 360? Blah I say. Never will I get a 360. I'm a Nintendo person myself, but hearing FF6 coming out on the PSN, just made me stick ahrd with it

Oh yeah I forgot about that, Final Fantasy 6 and Chrono Trigger on PSN... That's going to be sweet!

The PSN outage made me revisit Borderlands. I got PLATINUM at last, all the Call of Duty, Killzone 3 and CRYSIS 2 online kept me away from planet Pandora. Trying to get PLATINUM in Assassin's Creed 2 and Modern Warfare 2, just 4 trophies on each game.

Don't forget that the PlayStation Network also serves PSP players, and they were impacted as well. I have a PSN account for my PSP, but the fact that I never use it and have certainly never purchased anything from it means that the whole outage is little more than a passing annoyance and, to an extent, amusement to me.

I feel pretty fortunate now that I never bothered to get a PS3, though. My standalone blu-ray player and 360 have served me quite well enough and neither of them have ever jeopardized my data security. Yet. smile.gif

I'm torn on the issue of whether people should sell off their PS3s, or trade them in on 360s, or whatever, in the light of this breach. You're not paying for PSN, unless you're a PlayStation Plus user, and the bottom line is that it's very possible that a data breach like this could happen to any number of companies that have your credit card info. It's not like Sony is the only major company who has poor data security - if anything, they deserve our abuse for how they've handled the situation after the breach, not for the breach itself.

I have a PS3, though it's back home with my brother and not at school with me (...how is that fair?). We've never used our PSN account to purchase anything, however, so there isn't much to worry about there. I love the machine, so we definitely won't be trading it in for anything.

I'm in complete agreement with this.

I have a PS3, and my credit card details were stored. Yes, I'm concerned about identity theft and fraud - I've spent a lot of effort making sure my privacy is exceptionally well protected in most of my online endeavours, and this just messes that up completely. Yes, I'm a little annoyed by the way Sony took so long to inform us.

But they didn't actually do the damage themselves, it was the hackers. And it is the hackers at whom I am primarily angry. But nothing I can really do there.

I certainly won't be trading for a 360. I don't really blame Sony for the breach. And they have offered several goodies as compensation once the network is reinstated. I'm easily placated, it seems.

As for any affect to my gaming, I can't really say that there has been any at all - I haven't been using my PS3 much lately due to a combination of it being dangerously close to death (by the sounds of it) and me having far too much work to do.

While I've never been much of an online gamer, I do miss my PSN. It's great fun and I'd like to have it back sometime soon. I just hope that when it does come back, the security isn't any different. A password is one thing, but scanning my retina and/or fingerprints is something else.

Hopefully I wont have to wait much longer. you better bring it, tesco!

Well, was annoying considering my second Demon's Souls run was completely OFFLINE because of said outage.
Oh and everyone should play Demon's Souls BTW.

GO BUY IT.

It hasn't affected me at all because I have not bought anything from the PSN network, however, I do think that it is moronically stupid to even suggest the idea of a trade in just because it got hacked and they took it down. Not like it's gonna be down forever, not like they're not going to try to do everything they can to make sure it doesn't happen again. At worst I recommend reporting the possible theft of the account number that your credit card was on was compromised and asking for a reissued card but other than that I don't think it's a big deal. It's not like you put your social security number on your PS3. I've had e-commerce sites that have been hacked several times and I've never had my identity stolen so, really it's not that big of an issue. Honestly, I think you're more at risk paying for something over the phone and giving them your credit card and someone writing down the information and people do that every day. But I did go out and buy a 360 recently.

Well as far as the current info goes, they'll be giving everyone 30 days free playstation plus and anyone who has playstation plus gets 30 free days added on. Not sure what else is being added to it, but hey im fine with that. Now just have to wait for the dang thing wee

It's incidents like these that convince me to never buy anything recent from Sony (PS3, BD, etc.). A while back they had that Linux controversy, the DRM controversy, and some others I can't remember now.

Sony, you are pathetic.

PSN apparently is coming back up May 7. An online contest for 'MLB 11 The Show' starts May 7 meaning SONY is planning on reactivating PSN later on tonight May 6 or May 7. Cross your fingers.

While I don't currently own a PS3 this whole deal is an eye opener for sure. I have a PSN account as I did not want someone to take the nick I wanted if/when I get a PS3. I did not have a credit card on the account though as there was no point to put one on there so I'm not worried about my data being stolen. As a 360 owner I can not recommend trading in a PS3 to get a 360. eh.gif
