W000000000 Kefka is awesome! Most amazing villain ever. He's much scarier than Sephiroth!

Isn't there that video of a very in-character Kefka cosplayer calling a Sephiroth cosplayer a mama's boy?

You haven't seen this!?

Yeah, I think Kefka is awesome. To my recollection this is the first topic of this kind about Kefka. I'm glad somebody started one.

Edit
Btw, go and watch the other Kefka Cosplay videos, they are insane!

His personality is so much more defined than Sephiroths is. Plus, its my personal belief that Sephiroth is to blame for the start of the emo fad. Seriously, someone at Square was feeling rather feminine when they designed him

Wooo! I love Kef... I mean I love to hate Kefka.

But why compare him to Sephiroth? Because he's the most popular Final Fantasy villain? You're just adding more wood to the fire.

Let's try something different: Kefka Vs Emperor Palamecia, who caused more damage?

Kefka.... To me, he is the best video game boss of all time. Better than Tartarus (halo2) Kreia (KOTOR2) AND Mehrunes Dagon, who is invulnerable (TES4: Oblivion).
Not only did he TRY to take over the world, he DID. He is suprisigly clever, however erratic his actions are.

ZOMG sorry for the double post! I went to a new page and hit the back button taking me here, i , the idiot noob i am thought that my comment did not post so i hit the post button again....Sorry everyone!

Meh, Tartarus was a pushover.

Back on topic, Kefka is my favorite villain of all time. I mean, how could you go wrong with a clown that actually succeeded in taking over the world? Even the Joker couldn't do that!!

Liked how Kefka was a little bit goofy and messed around and made silly jokes.
And you think then that he's really powerful and evil. Then later in the game Kefka basically says. '' Yup going to start to act being serious now ''.

And then you really see his true form and see how powerful and evil he really is.

Though basically love his laugh. His high-pitched laugh is the best thing in the world. No other Final Fantasy future badguys copy or have a familiar style. No other Final Fantasy villains laugh like Kefka does. Very depressing thing !!

In the Kefka versus Sephiroth debate. Think that.

Better Final battle theme- Dancing Mad. Kefka
Better Villian Goal- Build a Light Tower to zap people and be a God- Kefka
Better Clothes- Sephiroth
Better Weapon- Sephiroth
Better Persona/ character- Kefka
Better death character kill- Kefka.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Didn't feel anything for Aerith. But Leo. Still feeling the pain from the death after five years..

Better main theme song- Kefka.

It says it all. Kefka is the best. happy.gif

Biased opinion ? Maybe. But Sephiroth was borderline annoying. And Kefka is kind of cute in a very very strange way.

Sephiroth's a great villain. In fact, he's probably more powerful than Kefka, and if they met in a fight 1 on 1 Kefka might even lose.

But Kefka is the more clever of the two. He is the true success story. He rises the ranks from a lackey to a demigod. Actually very inspirational rags to riches story, except he's evil of course. But they're the two best; no one else comes close.

LOL, I don't mean to flame, but I can't help but laugh at retards like that. It's not that I think Seph is a better villain (which admittedly I don't), it's that I can't even go to gaming conventions anymore because it's embarrassing to be around people like that who walk around acting like they have powers and are homicidal killers like the characters they dress up as.
As far as the conflict between Sephiroth and Kefka go though, Sephiroth is kind of a zombie, not really capable of thinking on his won. That's one thing I've always hated about him. Kefka on the other hand seems a little better of a baddie, seeing as how he is a scheming SOB, and although crazy, he is fully capable of critical thought.
I have to say though, I've always had a problem taking Kefka serious considering all the comical aspects he is given.

Haha, don't take it so personal guys, it's just my opinion that those people are ridiculous, and that it's embarrassing to even watch alone. That's not the main point of my post. It was just a side note that I began with, and my post was about what I thought of Seph and Kef. If you guys don't like that I think that, sorry, but don't think you can tell me what to say and what not to say about someone. If you have that big of a problem then PM me about it. It would be rude for the three of us to get SnickerSkull's topic closed over something like this.

No, I wouldn't do it myself. But bc I haven't done it, I can't knock it.

But I think it just shows how popular Kefka is, to be represented at those conventions right alongside mama's boy.

Yeah your right. Sephiroth is a amazing villain. Though the mind games he plays on Cloud and how he treats Cloud is just really annoying. Sephiroth's arrogant behavior really shows sometimes. Espically in Advent Children how he spends the whole fight just mocking him.

Kind of meant that Sephiroth was annoying in that way.

But Yes Sephiroth is a great Villian. Not really fancy on Kefka sometimes because of the way he plays mindgames with basically almost everybody and what he does to General Leo was almost unforgivable. Loved General Leo.
He was the most most kindest guy in the whole entire Empire Army. sad.gif

Just prefer Kefka because he's less arrogant and less vain towards himself and his ambitions. So that's why was supporting Kefka more. But only slightly.

Well, that might be partly why Kefka is as dangerous as he is. tongue.gif

Also, no, I wouldn't cosplay at a convention (at least, I've yet found no character that I really could fit into character cosplaying as, and for whom I'd be willing to suffer a rather embarrassing public image for at least several hours), but for what it's worth, most cosplaying that I've seen (the little I've seen, never having been to a convention myself) is of people who neither look nor act (as much as they try) the part. The fact that "'mama's boy' name-calling" Kefka wins so much is partly because he actually does it in-character and makes it look like something other than a total embarrassment.

The metal gear solid link was great. Hilarious.

I'd have to agree about Kefka though. He was really the first memorable main bad guy. I mean, Chaos and Zemus where the first two bosses we had access to, and neither were anything spectacular. I would've much rather killed Golbez, brother or not.

Sephiroth isn't a bad villain, he's just miles away from Kefka. If they'd been too similar then we'd be moaning about that instead.

I do like Sephiroth(and his pretty silver hair! happy.gif), but he's just not as awesome as Kefka. Bit too tragic to be really scary. But still epic.
Kefka, I love how he's ultra evil, and still provides comic relief!

Thanks for all the good comments on my Mtel Gear vid! thumbup.gif
I think Kefka is a better "Bad Guy" because his actions are so erratic and cares nothing for human life. BUT Sephiroths theme is cooler. I tried to Kill Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts 2, i got him halfway about after my 30th try... HES GOT LIKE 12 LIFE BARS!

Kefka is one of my all-time favorite villains. Actually, pretty sure he is my favorite of all time, but covering my bases.

Why? Because he does evil for evil's sake. Not because he believes that he should rule the world; not because he has absorbed all the evil in the world; etc. Simply because he thinks it is amusing and that everything should be destroyed. That's the scariest kind of villain.

Kefka vs. Seph

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

tough one

Maybe Kefka could trip or something and Seph would die laughing
or Kefka could make a balloon Ultima

Kefka is Just TEWKEWL whenever I see a clown I think "Kefka Wannabe"

I LOVELOVELOVELOVE Kefka!(doesn't everybody?)

Also Mehrunes Dagon was too big and muscly. If only Mog was a villain everyone would underestimate him until he takes over the world as a psychotic teddy bear. Everyone here should go to the super flash brothers site and watch the decline videos

Kefka of course pwns sephi in actually having more personal background to hate him for.

Seph's persona is kind of weak and doesn't give you the image of a villain as much as a wronged person who has deep personal issues and needs help.

So kefka definately wins:

I mean so what if he dresses like a clown and acts like a clown?

The mixture of comedy to the script just adds amusement wich is a good thing.

I really like both Kefka and Sephiroth. Kefka is a crazy and unpredictable psychopath and Sephiroth is well-developed, cold and evil. I don't think it's really fair to compare them based on which character is better. They're both different kinds of villain. It's ok to prefer Kefka. However, saying Sephiroth is a poor character is totally wrong.

Sephiroth's character has taken a sure hit in the compilation, but in the original FFVII he was brilliant. He doesn't even present himself as the main enemy until a certain event involving a sword and the Shinra President. Throughout the game he develops different dimensions via the Cloud's Tale part and seeing the gored snake etc. Then there's the obvious death scene we all know so much about which cements our want for revenge, and effectively puts our motive and feeling in parallel to Cloud's. From my point of view, that's better than what FFVI offers us, but, again, it's not fair to compare the two. Kefka doesn't really develop, he just acts, and the game's not supposed to be taken too seriously. Like I said before, he's a madman, but he doesn't invoke fear or interest like Sephiroth, he's just a lot more entertaining. A good example of the differences are in the character's theme music. Sephiroth's is a slow gothic choir in One Wing and the Shinra Mansion, while Kefka has a totally bizarre piece of upbeat organ music.

Someone wrote in another thread (or was it this one?) that there's a growing trend of Kefka love and Sephiroth hating which has become even worse than the previous Sephiroth loving. That is a damn fine summary.

You're right. And they are not only comparing two different types of villains, but they are probably the best of each respective types. I've said they are the two best two villains in Final Fantasy, at least. Both were spectacular.
