My name: 2ma/mango/that other kid/oh...him/Great and Merciful Ruler of Nowhere in Particular.

Favourite Games: ANY Final Fantasy except for V Oblivion Morrowind Warcraft 2 Warcraft 3 Starcraft Starcraft :Brood War Heavy Weapon Deluxe Dungeon Keeper 2 Freelancer Mount&Blade Counterstrike Diablo 2 Assasins Creed Odium Populous Any Legend of Zelda Dead Head Fred Dungeon Seige Throne Of Agony Battlefield 1942 and Age Of Empires 3

Reason: Anything that is as far removed from my mundane earthly life(So long as it does not contain aliens)and it has to have a storyline that thrills me and gameplay that kills me.

Favourite Genre: RPG no doubt. these are the most absorbing of all the genres for me and allow me to escape such trivial things as homework or the guy getting mugged across the street.

Reason for that genre liking(?):It gives me a few kicks and allows me to (Generally) be who or what I wanna be

Anything else: yes I think that games with CD keys or Expansion packs are made by paranoid money grabbers and utterly brilliant in every way as when you cheat them you get a rush...of lawsuits

Since I advertise CoN there I think it's only fair that I advertise The Wiki here.

Well, I think there are hybrid gamers, too, who follow both.

I like to spend the first playthrough of a game just having fun, seeing what all cool stuff it has, and eventually, maybe, beating it.

Some games I'll start over and over, new games, and never really get anywhere in them, but I'll still have fun (haha, I'm ridiculous)

But!  If I liked it enough to beat it, I replay it with a perfectionistic affection, powerleveling and getting rare items/secret characters, and making all the 'right' choices in the game so as to have the best ending.

I've actually seen all the Chrono Trigger endings, and worked my butt off to get the best weapons :/  I'm kind of embarrassed of that, especially considering I was glued to walkthroughs to figure out how to see them.

But I still start every game with a more lax, adventuresome attitude.  It just doesn't stay that way if I like the game.

[Edit] My post just sounded like I was just gabbing about myself, but I had a point:

That although each gamer is different, I think their playing attitudes usually fall into subcategories, like as Sage mentioned, depending on genre, experience with THAT game/series, and really personal opinons on these.

I was stating that I start out as one, but with some games end up as another.

On another note, you could probably also break down how the gamer finds help.  I know some people who consider walkthroughs as cheating, some who won't play a game without a walkthrough step by step, and others (this is me), who'll only use a walkthrough as a last resort, especially if you're getting tired of the game because you're in such a rut with the spot you're in.

I am exactly the same way as you.

Some games i love enough to play over and over like re4 and the experience is enjoyable that i don't mind a little dificulty and getting everything while other stuff i wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.

If i do not like the game enough i will simply not even play it.There are some categories of games like shoot em ups where i don't even try to play it or beat it,i might fool around and cheat here and there but i don't play seriously,if i like a game, and i mean really like it i will play till the end and try and get every alternative.

Suikoden 1 and 2 are one of those games that i don't mind beating 10 15 or even 20 times and attempting to get every ending.

Games that are too long and and repetitive can bore me a little and i might lose interest, unless i like the game thoroughly to the end to play.

Games like suikoden 2 are pretty long and i like quite alot,i also really like parasite eve 1,but 2 not as much as i like 1.

I still play it sometimes, but i kinda am refrained from beating it as i already got everything and beat it a few times.

Another thing i like is a good strong story with good strong characters that are well translated.

I did enjoy for an example every aspect of chrono trigger,i found it very memorable and i could definately play it again.

I liked the characters, the story and the moving back and forth in time.
