Well, having played Front Mission for the SNES and also FM3 for the ps1, a few years back, I picked up a copy of FM4 for the PS2. Sadly, I had loaned it to a friend never to see it again. But alas, I picked up a copy a week ago at my local GameStop for 5 bucks. Mint condition. So, I am back in the swing of things.
Just wondering if anyone else playes any Front Mission games. And if you dont, I suggest you try it out. If you like Final Fantasy Tactics or Armored Core, youre bound to enjoy this game. Please discuss! Theres not many forums out there for FM games, and the ones that are, they seem to always be dead. ![]() |

Way back when my friend and I started getting into the ROM scene, we stumbled on Front Mission, though in Japanese. But, even though we couldn't understand it, we still loved it. It kinda' combined the elements of great games we liked: Armoured Core, Ogre Battle and FFT. Eventually, I found an English version and have played it on and off, still loving it. Front Mission 3 on the PS was the first in the series I ever stomped all the way through it was glorious in looks, story and characters, not to mention the battle mechanics.
So, when FM4 was announced, I could hardly keep from peeing, and I wasn't disappointed at all. it's been another great addition to the series, both in story and with the charming cast, all of which are vocalized with great voice talent. I definitely recommend the series to anyone out there that loves tactic-style gameplay and giant fighting robots. Also, I'm kinda' psyched for FM5, but I'm not sure what's going on with it... I also heard tell they were supposed to be making an FM MMORPG? Also sounds awesome. -------------------- Games on the Go Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy: Four Warriors of Light Baldur's Gate Too much to play, so little time! Greg |

I played through Front Mission 3 several years ago and own FM4. Both received several playthroughs. No manual for FM4 though that didn't deter me. I have no idea how to use a jetpack though as I have no controller with an L3 button.
I didn't realize any movement system damage nulls evasion in 4 until I checked through the tutorials. Anti-Break has a really high activation rate. Feint III and Block Damage 50 are better defense skills but neither can save a unit from missiles. There are a few battles where this is handy though it's a waste of 4 slots when there isn't much danger of taking a beating. Massive luck in FM3: The first time through the game, I learned the Auto1 battle skill (counter while stunned) without consciously trying for it. It's one of the hardest to learn skills in the game. Never saw it acquired or activated again. This post has been edited by DragonKnight Zero on 8th March 2009 06:43 |

I've played through most of FM4, and it really is awesome battle-wise. The story is pretty disjointed though and would have worked better if, instead of switching back and forth between the two groups, the player could pick which one to play as. Major props to Darrill for being unscrupulous and instantly likeable, and major un-props to Chaeffer for being...well, Chaeffer. Renges' sniping skills are way awesome.
Bought FM3 over Christmas but haven't really played too much of it. It's pretty fun though...should really go back to it one of these days. -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |
