Don't know if this has already been done, but yeah whats your favorite boss music throughout Final Fantasy?

I'm pretty partial to Kuja's boss theme at the end of IX, and I also like VIII's fight music too.

I'd say it's all pretty good, except for FFI because I swear it sounded like something outta a corny superman movie or something. Actually, that might not be such a bad thing. =]

At the moment, it's a tie between Dancing Mad from FFVI and One Winged Angel from FFVII. Four Fiends of FFIV comes in with a close second, and the generic boss music, Still More Fighting, I think it's called, from FFVII would be my third choice.

I'd say the final boss music from FFT or One-Winged Angelfrom FFVII. This thread has inspired me to look up and/or download a sample of Dancing Mad from FFVI.

Hmmm... I'm pretty sure it was boss fight only music, but it's been a long time since I played Final Fantasy VIII. Anyway, I'd have to say Force Your Way from FF8. I was especially impressed back when the Black Mages released their first album and did their version of it. Still, I always liked the original.

I like the one from FFIII, it gives a nice feeling. Though I like the four fiend battle and Zeromus battle theme from FFIV too.

Dancing Mad is great, my favorite part is the top tier, before Kefka.

Uematsu did a wonderful job with this piece. I love the subtle key change in the Kefka motif part, where it goes from the silly to this sudden unsettling twist. It's so great, and I especially love the Black Mage's cover of it.

Any 'favorite' topic that pertains to FF is always really hard for me to answer. laugh.gif

(I'd like to preface this first by saying 'I know that these sounds are generated electronically.')

Generic fight music - FF9. I love the heavy drums followed by the dramatic strings - rather like FF4's lead-in. Also, it sounds very battle-ish. Some of the other battle themes are a bit too happy sounding. Honorable mention to FF6.

Generic boss music - FF7. You cannot deny the guitar lead-in - absolutely epic win. Honorable mention to FF3 and FF9.

Special boss music - Clash on the Big Bridge from FF5 and 12. Honorable mention, of course, to Dancing Mad, One-Winged Angel and Fierce Battle.

Hmm...

Random Battle: Y'know, I have no real preference, but force me to choose, I'd go with FF4. (Admittedly, I can't think of them off hand, I'd have to pop in the games and play a bit to remember.

Boss Fight: FF4, easily. Either the normal boss music or Battle of the Four Fiends. I still find myself humming/whistiling Battle of the Four Feinds when I fight bosses in other games.

Final Boss: FF8. It's divided into 4 parts as there's 4 different battles. In this case, I prefer 1, 3 and 4.

Honorable Mentions go to: Battle on the Big Bridge (Gilgamesh!), Dancing Mad and probably some others.

Hmm...so many to choose from!

Castlevania:
Symphony of the Night's battle themes--the action theme "Festival of Servants", the unholy-magic "Enchanted Banquet", and the grand-horror "Death Ballad". Harmony of Dissonance had the rhythmically- and tonally-chaotic "Archenemy". Dawn of Sorrow gave us such horrors as

Death and Abaddon
with the grand and evil "Great Gate of Darkness". Portrait of Ruin had a great basic boss theme, "DESTROYER". A very nice chaotic + percussive battle theme.

E.V.O.'s Bolbox had a twisted yet tonal battle theme whose awesomeness lent itself to being included in the infamously sadistic platformer I Wanna Be The Guy. (Not to mention the "Cave to Eden" theme that uses similar musical material.)

Golden Sun TLA had the Flame Dragons battle theme, which was very apt as imposing + ominous + chaotic.

Final Fantasy III has a nice boss theme--especially the NES version. Trivia: It's one of the few tracks in the entire game to use percussion.

Final Fantasy IV's boss theme is one of my perennial favorites, not to mention its use in
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Super Mario RPG as Culex's boss theme.
It's melodic, epic, musical, and exciting. In my opinion, this works best for a battle with something you're familiar with.

Final Fantasy V has Exdeath's battle theme, which has an awesome driving beat to it, overlaid with chaotically-changing tonalities.

Final Fantasy VI, of course, has everyone's favorite four- (or five-, based on how you count the parts) battle theme, Dancing Mad.

Final Fantasy VII's best, in my opinion, is Jenova Absolute: a persistent beat (3, 3, 2, 2, 2), over which are laid an ostinato melody and a main melody.

La-Mulana has a different boss theme for every major boss, and of them, "Interstice of the Dimension" (or "Dimention" if you insist) stands out as way awesome. Crazy guitar passages and keyboard glissandos at insanely high speeds are only two memorable aspects of this ultra-high-intensity boss fight.

Mega Man ZX has the wicked cool "Rockin' On" theme for its main bosses, and a "Dance Macabre" with a driving beat for its mini-bosses (complete with a musical reference to Copy-X's theme from the Zero series, too!).

Metroid Prime succeeds (in my opinion) at making a techno remix of Ridley's battle theme (originally one of two major battle themes in Super Metroid) while preserving a 10-unit meter (four beats in lengths 3, 3, 2, 2). And Metroid Fusion has an exciting battle theme against the security robot.

Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers is a strange contender to show up on this list, but it gets a mention for the SNES game's boss theme.

Super Mario RPG had its share of nice battle themes, with a more pop-ish feel to them (the sort of "street punk" or "street gang" feel, to be honest--somehow it worked out quite well with the game).

Tales of Phantasia's opening battle theme has to qualify somewhere.

I really like the regular boss battle music in 7, the music that plays for the first stage of the final boss in tactics, and the music that plays when you fight Ultima Weapon in 8.

--------------------
FF games completed: I (psp), II (psp), III (DS), IV (psp), V (GBA), VI (GBA), VII, VIII, IX, X, XI: Nations-Rhapsodies of Vana'diel, XII, XIII, XIV, XV.
Spin-offs: FFIV: Interlude & The After Years, Crisis Core: FFVII, X-2, XIII-2, Lightning Returns, Type-0 HD, Dissidia, Dissidia 012, and Tactics (original & WotL).
Enjoyed them all.

My favorite Final Fantasy...

Random battle song: 3 or 4
Regular boss battle song: 4 or 5
Miniboss song: 5 (Gilgamesh)
Super boss battle song: Either 4 (Elemental Lords fight), 7 (Jenova fight), 5 (X-Death battle), or Tactics (Zodiac fight)
Final boss song: Ooooh, a toughie here... 4, 5, 9, or Tactics.

Too many hard decisions to make. Also never really liked Dancing Mad too much except for the first two tiers.

I love the regular boss music from FFIV. Love the way it begins: the quick little intro scale at the beginning, the bass riff, and then the main melody. That would probably be my favorite boss music. In terms of final bosses, I have to go with Dancing Mad as #1 with One Winged Angel a close second.

Best random battle music has to be FFIV. It rips straight into it, which is convenient because the fights don't last very long.

The standard boss music from FFVI is probably the best in that category.

For individual battles though, it's a contest between FFIX You're Not Alone in Garland's castle I think it is, FFVI Dancing Mad final boss, FFIX Feel My Blade during "I Want To Be Your Canary" and FFIX Dark Messenger final boss. It's difficult to pick one. If I had to it would probably be Feel My Blade because it integrates so perfectly with the scene outside the battle. Just when the music finishes building up the battle starts.

It's strange that, for me, FFIX has the best music is the series by far, but the random battle and general boss music is poor.

I'm quite partial to Challenge and Your Not Alone, the Landing from X, IX, and VIII.

The Decisive Batte and Dancing Mad from VI are also awesome.

I love pretty much every single Final Fantasy battle music (Except for the ones in 12, I really did not like the music, or the game at all). Also, after playing through Chrono Trigger on the DS again, I realized that I also love the CT soundtrack...

For the best normal fight music, I'd have to say FF4's is my favorite. It captivates me every time I hear it. Most of the other FF battle music is good, but really gets repetitive after you fight monster after monster after monster. I never get tired of FF4's battle theme, and I really hope that the Black Mages will remix this one in their next album (If they make one >_>)

For best boss music, I think FF6's is the best, being better than the FF4 and 7 ones by a little bit. The dungeon battle music from FFXI is also pretty impressive, and it was one of the reasons that I lingered on playing the game for awhile before I finally quit (And moved onto WoW XD)

For special boss music, I honestly can't choose a favorite.. Atma's theme from 6, The Big Bridge from 7, and Magus's battle from CT were all amazing pieces.

After playing through all those remakes on the GBA and DS, I've fallen in love with all the soundtracks again :{ Damn you Square, give me an oppertunity to find other good games to play again once in awhile!

Fight Theme- Tend to like Final Fantasy IX's the best.

Boss Theme-Draw between FF III and '' Those who fight further '' from Final Fantasy VII

Final Battle Theme- One Winged Angel ( very unoriginal dry.gif )

I'm a big fan of Dancing Mad from FFVI.

That said, the final battle music in FFVIII scares the pants off me.
I also like FFX's boss battle music.

I heart.gif FF music!
