Suikoden 4 a long rant

I don't understand why so much was taken out.
Suikoden 2 was great then i never played or heard much about suikoden 3 and went to 4 and saw what they did as i played on and was thinking: Why? why did they make the game so easy? why did they crunch every character in the same town? Couldn't they at least give us more places to explore? The battles at sea were even dull as well and repetitive and the boat fights even though its a new touch,weren't as well done as in suikoden 5.
