I have to ask this, is this the best game to come on the 360 in your opinion? I mean, graphics, plot, character development out the wazoo. The ending could use a bit more plot but..... Also, does anyone know if the ending depends on Karma?

So, out of all the games ive played so far on the 360, Fallout3 seems the best, what about you?

First of all, the ending does depend on karma.

I agree with you. It's really immersive, and I've had a lot of fun with it. It's been the best game I've played on it so far.

i really wouldnt call it the best 360 game, seeing as its out for 2 other systems as well. so a more suiting title would be 'best current game' or something as such, also no, i dont think its the best 360 game. exclusive 360 game would probably be halo or some other one of the countless shooters out for that system, but as far as multiplatform, oblivion is far better imho

Fallout 3 is a fun game, there is no denying that. In terms of visuals, it definitely is one of the better looking games from an aesthetic stand point to have been dropped on any system in the last year.

That being said, I wouldn't consider it the best game for any of those systems, let alone the Xbox 360. I would hardly say that there is a lot of immersion. Rather, it feels like you're dropped into the life of some nameless character and made to fill in all the blanks yourself. Certainly, you can build relationships with characters but it's a shallow, superficial system at best, using your karma rating as a guide and your in-game actions as a secondary source. I can kill a girl's father, leave the city and improve my karma rating then have her not want my head on a stick?

While the scenery itself is gorgeous, it's only really impressive the first time you step out of Vault 101. As the game drags on, the landscape becomes more and more predictable and familiar. It's as if you're walking the same hill, valley and ruined former town over and over, only with varying arrangements and radiation levels.

Also, I have to question where this character development takes place. Do you mean the way you can turn your character into the biggest douche bag on the planet or alternately, the only decent person left? I wouldn't really call that "development" as you generally have decided from the start what path you will take and hardly, if at all, vary from that. Your interactions with others rarely change any further than their first impression of you, as well.

Certainly the plot had it's high moments, but I can't help but feel it was lost through all the time spend treading endless miles of terrain.

All the same, there are a bunch of great things that made Fallout 3 an extremely enjoyable playing experience. Still, there are a good handful of games I preferred to it that I think are more deserving.

I totally agree with Dragon_Fire. Fallout 3 has fallen into all the same traps as Oblivion. It really isn't very memorable.

My favourite 360 game is betwen the Orange Box and Bioshock. If the Orange Box doesn't count as a game in itself, then Bioshock is top. I haven't completed GTAIV yet. According to some people that is the best game by far, and I've not seen any reason to disagree.

i don't totally disagree with both of you. The plot, as with most sandbox games, is not extremely strong. But I couldn't disagree more about the immersion. Yeah sure if you go through a game there will be times you're taken out of the action, but this game really did a real good job reeling me in. Even the beginning, which we all can agree is the weakest part of the game, does a good job making me feel apart of the world.

Playing for a long time can really depress you, but I don't even think the graphics were the most immersive part of the game. For me it was the irony that you seem to be the only person who cares that the world has gone to hell. Also little stuff like scavenging in a super mart, the water beggars, and so on. Especially immersive was Tranquility Lane. I found myself wanting to escape from there, and that was the good place in the game!

There may be better games on each console, I'm not sure, but I'm positive it's the best when it comes to immersion

This is where I disagree with most people who have played this game; I enjoyed the beginning more than the rest of the experience. The constant interactions, the many little details that made up the community of Vault 101 and being given a glimpse into a history you're essentially creating for yourself was really the only part of the game where I felt at all immersed.

As for being the only person in the game who cared if the whole world went to hell, well, that depends on how you play the game and, if you're like I am, (a selfish douchebag who would kill an entire town just to get one man's cowboy hat) then it really doesn't matter.

Once I was past the Megaton part of the game, I honestly had to force myself to keep going back in and whenever I did, it was only because I felt like slaughtering a bunch of raiders or an unsuspecting town. The only time I did any plot-related quests was when I could think of absolutely nothing else worth doing, or if it was just too far to treck to the next town and start another massacre.

Item grinding and scavenger hunts do not equate to immersion. If anything, I'd say it's a completetionist's OCD.

What I mean by charector development is that you really get a few of other people in Fallout 3 besides yourself. Also, when you say that your dropped in the body of someone, I cant help but disagree because you get a back story and have to fill in the gaps an holes with your own desions. And lastly, the battle with the robot leadin the way to the Jefferson memorial...is aamzing....I mean graphics wise, it was astonishing...

I think its the best FPS out for the 360 IMO.

If you tied me to a chair and demanded that I name the best game for the XBox 360, I'd probably say Grand Theft Auto IV or The Orange Box. Hell, I'd probably say the same thing about the PS3. Fallout 3 is fun, but once the shock sets in from seeing post-apocalyptic versions of my familiar nearby DC landmarks (especially the metro), the repetition sets in and the game seems less special. It's a very good game, but there are better ones around.

I liked Fallout 3 but... I felt kinda let down playing it. First of all, I liked oblivion much better, and for many reasons. First of all, I felt that I had more choices in oblivion (elder scrolls). If there isn't a clear plotline to follow, then i need to have plenty of good options. In oblivion, there were several guids and a bunch of different skills and interesting quests. Fallout just seemed... lacking. In oblivion, everything had a history or a background. It felt like every element of the world had some reasoning behind it that you could access if you really wanted to. It made the world seem much more real. Fallout felt kinda underdeveloped in that sense.

I think it's a good game, but not the best on PS3 or 360.

There is no way I would call Fallout 3 the best 360 game yet. It was fun at first but then it just got really boring and repetitive. The fact that it was really buggy did not help it out any. I had to totally redo 2 quests due to glitches that were so bad you would have thought a game tester would have found them before the game shipped. All in all I find it to be an ok game that was way over-hyped. eh.gif

i would still say F3 is overall the best game, mainly because of the themes and the immersive quality (i guess im a person who looks for that kind of stuff in games, and that means im in the minority), but i have to say ive had more fun with GTAIV.
