Reis is my favorite character, battle-wise, in the whole game.
On my first play-through, I barely touched her. No love for the dragons, so why bother right? I wanted humans on my team. Later, I figured out how to use her, learned more about her, and became totally wowed. Side note: "Breath" is mistranslated in the PSX version as "Bracelet". Fire Breath, Ice Breath, Holy Breath, and the Assassin's "Stop Breath"(insta-kill). Why I love Reis (and her Dragoner class): 1. More innates than anybody. She's got Two Swords, Monster Talk, Monster Skill, and Train. You know, invite monsters when your "Attack" leaves them critical? 2. Four elemental attacks - the most useful elements. Fire, Ice, Thunder, and Holy. Yes, Holy Breath is disappointing. 3. Four GREAT dragon-only abilities. PowerUp quickly makes your dragons the fastest and most devastating units on the field. LevelUp or "Dragon Quick" hands her turn off to the closest dragon. Tame is a guaranteed Invite on any dragon, which can seriously turn the tide on some of those Deep Dungeon or rare encounter fights. Care or "Dragon Wish" is the least of her abilities, but still cures most status ailments. 4. I tend to use "Equip Sword" or "Equip Knife", but even with her limited equips, a Ribbon and a Chantage make her unstoppable. And last but FAR from least... 5. Best stat growth of any special class, period. Mimes are the best generic class for growing HP, PA, and MA. A Dragoner's PA growth is topped only by a mime, but she's better at growing all four other stats. She's got the best HP and MA growth of any human, the MP growth of a Priest, and a small speed bonus (like Ramza, only Thief and Ninja grow speed faster). So that's my wordy and over-detailed appreciation.for this amazing little data package. In short, Reis + Hydra = Very Yes. -------------------- "Until we make the unconscious conscious, it will control our life and we will call it fate." - Carl Jung |

You make some real interesting points; you sold Reis very well! While I admit that I never used her very extensively before I picked up War of the Lions, but since then, I, too, have grown quite fond of her on the battlefield. I like giving her a Ribbon and some kind of Perfume like the Chantage or the Angel Ring.

But.. what became of oneshotting everything on five tiles with sword abilities from Orlandu?
Never having used her much, i believe she's probably strong if you feel like using the time to power her up. -------------------- All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Broccoli to die. |

I think I'd expound a bit on what Ganolink said, but stay in the same vein: Reis can indeed be ridiculously powerful, as I think a lot of us have probably seen.
I have to wonder how much that raw power is diminished by perception, though, knowing that you get Orlandu earlier and without having to do any sidequests? -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

Reis can easily be overpowered if you use her correctly.

I use Reis, but often I find her not very useful because of her mediocre movement range. However, she has saved my but a couple of times:
1. I was in the deep dungeon, and a summoner was about to cast bahamut right after Reis's turn. So I took a chance and used holy bracelet/breath as none of her other attacks could reach the summoner; the spell hit twice, both on the summoner and killed her! I was shocked, as I had never had holy bracelet/breath hit anything before. 2. I was fighting the rare super monster battle at barious hill. Several of my characters were KO'ed, as well as both of my guests. I had Reis move forward and attack the king/dark behemoth (I can't remember which). She brought it down to critical health, and because of her innate train converted it to my side. Then it got it's turn. Because of Reis's innate monster skill ability, it was able to use its special attack which is similar to Beowulf's shock!. It used it on the top of the hill, and killed the enemy hydra, blue dragon, behemoth, and hyudra and turned the tide of battle in my favour. I find Reis somewhat unreliable in battle as I don't keep dragons in my party, but I am fond of her. -------------------- FF games completed: I (psp), II (psp), III (DS), IV (psp), V (GBA), VI (GBA), VII, VIII, IX, X, XI: Nations-Rhapsodies of Vana'diel, XII, XIII, XIV, XV. Spin-offs: FFIV: Interlude & The After Years, Crisis Core: FFVII, X-2, XIII-2, Lightning Returns, Type-0 HD, Dissidia, Dissidia 012, and Tactics (original & WotL). Enjoyed them all. |

The Reis' combo are simply infinite. You can boost her with equip sword, two RuneBlades and give her +4 MA with just one accessory. Than give her a Setiemson, make her pretty invincible. Fast, strong, powerful in attack and magic both, having the possibility to boost monster, having Tiamat and Blue Dragon by her side, and make things like Deep Dungeon a joke.
Quote Reis could give Orlandeau/Orlandu a run for his money in a fight since she doesn't need Armor to have as much HP that he has! Make Reis 999HP like that is EASY. ![]() -------------------- #1 Italian in The Caves of Narshe :D Mercenary Dark Knight Knight: Great, here comes a crowd! Gafgarion! Kill them!! And do it now!! Agrias is definitely my favourite character in this game. However, Reis may indeed be the most powerful. I think it's great how much you have to do just to get her in your party in human form. I like to use her as a knight. With two swords, one excalibur for automatic haste, and then whatever else. It's hard to miss with whatever class you choose for her. If you make her a ninja, she'll be your best ninja. And her "Dragoner" skill is so much fun. Absolutely worth the time investment.

Reis is certainly impressive, but I'd have to say that the pure cheese of Orlandu ranks higher.
Orlandu's stats are nothing to balk at and his abilities have far greater utitlity (and did I mention cheese). |

She needs a lot of babying to get really good, but she's worth the effort. As a Dragoner with Math Skill, she's both a physical and magical powerhouse. Insane HP, immunity to all status effects (with the Ribbon), almost 30 MA and PA, high speed: she's one of the cruxes of my team.
However, no one can surpass the most broken character ever: Orlandu. |

Reis requires to much time and investment to be any good, IMO. With guys like Orlandeu and Balthier I don't feel like I need her at all.
