I'm going through Final Fantasy VI yet again and each time I play events change from being hard to easy and vice versa. Take for example, saving Celes in the Opera. First time I played the game, I had no issue reaching Ultros within the time limit. Second time I had a very difficult time and I ended up repeating that damn opera over four times.
However, for some there might be events in the game that will forever be challenging. I want to know what you guys think. For me, it's the Fanatic's Tower. It just seems like forever you're in the tower and after you beat the boss, well...then you got to climb back down. It just takes time and if you die, well tough luck start over. It just will remain challenging for me, no matter how many times I play. |

Quote It just will remain challenging for me, no matter how many times I play. Ever brought Umaro into that tower? He still attack in a rage, and causes plenty of damage to, as many of the Fanatics' Tower foes have low physical defense stats. Equipping wall rings on your whole party will help to negate most of the enemy magic spells too. Use wall rings and Umaro, and you'll see that tower in a whole new light. The first time I played the game on the SNES, various boss fights had me stuck for a while. Kefka in Narshe, Ultros in the Opera House, Didalos in Daryl's Tomb. The Storm Dragon was maybe the biggest pain, but as I played the game more often I realized I just needed to level up before confronting him. |

I did have some trouble with the Fanatic's tower, too, but I think the hardest parts is Phoenix Cave. Kefka's tower can get hard if you're not prepared for it (and because most of the time, you've spent so much time leveling to get Locke, you're pretty ready for it). I never found that any bosses were overly-difficult, tho'.
Edit I second the challenge in beating Ultros in the Opera House, but I failed getting to him a couple of times before getting it right. This post has been edited by Harlequin on 5th August 2008 21:20 -------------------- |

I'll jump on the bandwagon. The Fanatic's Tower. I HATE the Fanatics Tower. The fights are tedious, but it's the boss that always annoys the hell outta me.
Since I always forget to have Life3 by that time, I usually have to Rasp/Osmose the Magimaster to death. Which takes FOREVER, because he has 50,000 MP, and you can only drain a few hundred or so per casting. Umaro's one real use is to use in the Fanatic's Tower if you're lazy or doing a Natural Magic game. The biggest problem with Umaro in the Fanatic's Tower is fighting the Magimaster. If you DON'T have Life3, DON'T take Umaro. You CAN NOT drain MP from the Magimaster fast enough before Umaro will kill him and thus kill you. And so, Umaro remains in his corner of the airship, ridiculed by all the other characters as they throw peanuts mockingly at him. -------------------- Really Random Quote of the Day: "Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war." - Richard M. Nixon So if you're done reading this, you know I have nothing to say and you've wasted your time. Thank you come again. |

I've always kept away from magic, so the Fanatics Tower kicks my butt almost everytime. But I want to be different so I'll say Gogo's cave. I cannot go through without being squished or knocked off at least a couple of times.

Atma weapon, both times. On my first playthrough I had to spend about 2 hours just leveling up enough to beat him.

The timed part at the end of the Floating Continent. The first time I played, I could not for the life of me defeat Nelapa (GBA Translation) within the time limit. Meaning I couldn't save Shadow or gain the entry in my Beastiary

Fanatics Tower (It's one thing to get to the top of the tower and beat Magimaster- then you get to climb all the way back down. Suggestion to cultists- invest in an elevator.) and secondly Gogo's cave- Sabin can drop-kick a moving train and hold up a burning house but he gets squished by falling rocks? What the heck?
Also in the GBA version, Dragon's Den was pure aggravation. |

Im currently stuck in the dragons den, so thats the hardest part (therefore moving my time to playing FFV Advance, FFIVDS, FFTA2, and The World Ends with You).
BTW, with Fanatics Tower, it is only a pain if you decide to not go with Mog and his special Molulu's charm (or as oldies know it, Mog's Charm). These seem to be the two hardest parts, while gogo's cave and the storm dragon are third and fourth. -------------------- <DrkMagimaster282> MWAHAHA. Hmm....a lot of the dungeons weren't really that hard, but kinda frustrating, as it would seem like enemies would attack me every few steps.
I had some trouble with Cyan's dream sequence because I had taken my lower-leveled characters in. I didn't know there would be a dungeon-like place, and I stupidly saved. And, of course, I couldn't Teleport out of there. The reason I had brought my lower-leveled characters was because I liked them more. My main, higher-leveled party had characters I didn't like as much, so I liked to bring the ones I liked more often. So I had some trouble fighting the Dream Stooges. But thankfully, I had brought Celes, whose Runic made the battle so much easier. But as for a really hard part...well, a lot of it was hard at first because it was my first FF game and I didn't really know what I was doing, but the second time, it was much easier. Some of the dragons in the Dragon's Den were pretty tough. |

The Atma boss in Kefka's tower has consistantly been nasty. And I don't recall that you get any reward for winning other than a save point. Though I believe Atma is optional.
As for Umaro in the Fanatics Tower, I either turn back after beating the White Dragon or wound the yeti before fighting the Magi Master. I don't particularly feel a need for the Gem Box, however. This post has been edited by Frozen_Aura on 11th August 2008 19:54 |

Quote (Tryscal The Great @ 6th August 2008 01:02) Atma Weapon on the Floating Continent. You know, I second that. It took me a while to beat the Atma Weapon on the Floating Continent... ...only to die when I ran out of time. Crap, hated Nerapa with a passion. Luckily, I had Edgar with me the second time and because Chainsaw did the most damage at the time, I used that - only for it to pull the 'one attack and enemy's dead' thing. I usually never try it with bosses, cause many are immune, but apparently not Nerapa. |

Nothing is too hard anymore, but before I had played a zillion times I ran into all sorts of trouble.
Narshe: Confrontation of Kefka. 3 groups. Floating Continent Fanatics Tower Opera House Vector Cyan's Dream Gogo's Cave Kefka's ending Dungeon FF6 was the first RPG I ever played, so I was getting into a bind every time I turned the corner. |

Ultros on the LEte river was difficult, as was the Dram Sequence at Doma. The 3 group Kefka battle was hard to as was the Atma Weapon. The Fanatic's Tower was difficult as well and of course the end fight with the what 5-7 fights in a row?

I usually get lost as hell in Kefka's Tower, but none of the bosses give me trouble as I routinely over-level in every single RPG I play. I don't know why, it's just something I've always done.
I do not feel a game is complete until I've maxed out the timer. |

My first playthrough, I had a rough time with several parts. Floating continent, Fanatics' Tower, and Kefka's Tower were the worst. However, on the second playthrough I honestly was able to obliterate every boss without much trouble. Even the Magimaster was easy; I brought Mog with the Moogle Charm and when I reached the top floor gave Celes the gem box, then had my other party members heal and cast reraise, then Celes dualcasted Ultima each turn. 5 turns and I won, and reraise saved me from Ultima, making it an easy battle.
