Hi everybody! I've seen a couple threads on these two programs, but nothing really explanatory. I'm starting this thread for Q's and A's on these programs.
Q: I recently downloaded FFTastic, but can't get it to work on Windows Vista. A: Just right-click the program and go to Properties, Compatibility tab, and select "Windows 2000" from the drop-down menu. Q: What's the difference? A: FFTastic has a few advantages over FFTedit, such as Gender and Zodiac editing (including Serpentarius, which has an ordinary 100% compatibility to all other signs). Also, you can edit learned abilities from each class separately from available and total JP. Also, you can swap characters between individual save files. Also, you can edit your propositions (success/fail/available, treasures/lands). Also, you can change "Real Stats", the usually 5-digit numbers that determine each character's HP, MP, PA, etc. These stats are independent of the class the character is using, and are put through a filter to determine current PA, HP, whatever, that actually get used in damage formulas. Q: What does "Character Set" do? A: This actually determines a lot about your character. You can change active Job to whatever with either of these programs, but the character set will determine whether you can continue to use that command set. Example: You can use Balmafula (who never enters battle during the plot) as an Assassin, but as soon as she changes job, her "Special Squire" class will still be empty. Also, any character other than "generic male" and "generic female" will not change appearances when you change their class, and may look unusual or glitchy on the formation & battle setup menus. Short answer? Changes Sprite and "Squire" options. I look forward to more questions and or answers! -------------------- "Until we make the unconscious conscious, it will control our life and we will call it fate." - Carl Jung |
