America should get the game not long after the Japanese, the Europeans should get it six months after the Americans....
No big deal ! It means that we have plenty of time to save up for a PSP if we don't have one already.. |

New trailer. It's got some repeat material from previous trailers, but it's good quality and you get to see and hear the all-mighty Kefka.

I almost agree with you, but I think this game could be either a huge hit or a huge miss, and I will judge this based on how they manage to tie everything and everyone together and partially on how the gameplay feels.
It looks like they kept faithful to Kefka's Amano design (and I like that), but what's the deal with the purple makeup slathered onto his face? It doesn't work, but I guess they're trying to establish him as a really creepy clown. -------------------- |

That's why it's called the video game industry, not the video game society of free-thinking auteurs. I think the easiest way to try and enjoy this game is not to take it very seriously. It's just an excuse to get a bunch of popular characters together. Since this game is a fighting game, I'm perfectly willing to play it even if the storyline is a miserable little pile of excrement. The gameplay vids I've seen so far look promising, but there's still a long while before this game comes out. I'll wait and see. Well, we here with the Video Game Society of Free-Thinking Auteurs tend to disagree with that statement... ![]() I'll admit, this game looks amazing, and it does make me a bit sad that it's destined to a life on handhelds, as this would be utterly mind-blowing if it had a PS3/360 release. Maybe Squenix will realize the potential and throw something together. That picture once again proves that Cecil is the prettiest man that I have ever seen. Look how those silver locks flow effortlessly from his hair...
Not completely familiar with IV, but I am more than happy with the obvious choice of characters, for once. -------------------- |

Agreed. Portable systems don't really do fighting games justice, especially for a game that's essentially Super Smash Bros. with FF characters. Is it sad that as I watched the trailer, one of my main thoughts was, "Man, they'd better rope Mark Hamill into doing Kefka's English voice"? |

I would have to say I shared Tryscal the Great's sentiment when I saw the preview, as they really seemed to focus on the "synopsis", which really sounds to me more like an excuse to rip a few iconic characters out of the stories that made them great and put them together in some sort of cheap alternate-universe fanfic. Laszlow has a good point, but I don't think I would agree with him. Commercial art is not art that sells out; it's art made by people who have dedicated their very livelihood to their art. Yes, many gaming companies lose sight of that fact every now and then, but I believe that there are still many games out there that have been made by people with vision, who care more about quality than how much something will sell.
On the other hand, it may still be enjoyable for some people. As this thread has shown, there are many people out there who are jumping at the opportunity to play their favorite FF characters, and there's nothing wrong with that. I'd have to say that I myself was very disappointed with Kefka's portrayal. It reminded me of the hyenas from Lion King, in that he came off as kind of a slouching, lackey-type character rather than a frilled maniacal fop. But that's only judging from a few seconds of footage, so hopefully the rest is better. Sorry for being such a downer, but I really love the originals, and this just feels so... cheap. -------------------- Oh tell me why Do we build castles in the sky |

Dissidia is a FF game set for the heros and villians to fight each other over the world. Chaos commands the bad guys and Cosmos commands the good guys (Or girls).
They have the characters from FF to FFX Thats almost all the good FF games *Laughs* If you want to know more or see more, go to these links below. We should be getting a playable demo and more character announcements over the next few days at the just-starting Tokyo Game Show. A lot of different gaming websites are running liveblogs of the show, so follow along if you want to know the second everyone else does.

Aw man, I lost. I knew it was going to be Terra, but denying it felt good.
Blonde and blue-eyed Terra...what? Maybe the hair isn't a surprise, but are the blue eyes and exaggerated chest really necessary? It's also incredibly odd they have Kefka in his final form body (with him being all purple-skined and masculine looking) in his normal wardrobe. No surprises come with FFVII, and I don't care at all. -------------------- |

Right, since theres no infomation update since I left, allow me to bump the topic with an overview!
Gameplay: Gameplay is a 3D fighting game, many have likened it to Kingdom Hearts, O steals Brave (Which can also be aquired by enviroment damage) and [] uses Brave to damage HP, this will always be exact: 2312 Brave will cause 2312 HP damage However impacting a wall will add additional damage but CANNOT KO, you'll always be left with 1 HP When you have enough Brave to KO the brave will have a border Be dealing brave damage you create orbs of brave energy which will zoom unto you and grant you a boost to your Ex-Meter, Ex-Cores also boost the Ex-Meter, one wing is half the meter, two wings is a full charge After gaining the energy you can use R and Triangle to become exmode (Onion Knight needs up or down aswell, which is to allow you to pick between Ninja and Sage) Using a HP attack in Ex-Mode causes a silver square shape to appear on screen, press square before it fades to enter an Ex-Burst where you play a small mini-game to build up brave for a final HP attack If you reduce someones Brave to 0 they enter break mode and you aquire the Brave in the Brave Pool between the life meters Brave is added to the Brave Pool by enviromental hazards such as Mako in the Lifestream Movelists are apparently customisable Characters; FF1, Warrior of Light: ![]() The all rounder character, uses a few new "Holy" themed moves and classic spell-items seen in FF1 His Ex-mode is Knight He Ex-burst, Oversoul, involves a multitude of slashes FF1, Garland: ![]() Apparently called "Standard", not really sure what thats meant to mean, but he appears to be slow and heavy His Ex-mode is Super-Armour His Ex-Burst, Soul of Chaos, has him charge himself up before using his blade like a boomerang FF2, Firion: ![]() Can use all 8 weapon types of FF2, as such as extremely flexible, however he cannot move when he attacks His Ex-Mode is Blood Equipment, so he heals when he attacks His Ex-burst, Fervid Blazer, uses all his weapons to build up brave, then fires them all at once from his bow for the HP attack FF2, Emperor: ![]() He uses his magic to lay traps and limit where his opponent can move His Ex-Mode is Emperor of Hell His Ex-Mode, Absolute Rule, seems to invlove a large flare of energy, but I'm currently unsure FF3: Onion Knight ![]() Onion Knight is fast with his sword and has to powerful magic His Ex-Modes are Ninja and Sage His Ex-Bursts and Great Magic and Ninjitsu, involving Meteo and Shurikens FF3, Cloud of Darkness ![]() She is slow but has a large amount of long range power, relies on precise timing Her Ex-Mode is her Green Final Boss Form Her Ex-Burst, Super Wave Cannon, is basically Partical Beam from FF3DS To be continued |
