To start out: I went searching for old FFXI topics, only to find two old topics (one from 06 and one from 04, and the majority of people commenting in those topics are names I didn't recognize, and as I've been here for about a year and a half, they're probably not recurring users anymore (with the exception of Ronin).

So here's the 2-year spike in interest on FFXI:


So I finally broke down and bought a copy of FFXI from my local used game store, it was the Vana'Diel '08 collection: Game + all 4 expansions for $20 unopened! It even still had the 30 day trial to activate.

I got it for 360, and SIX HOURS LATER it was finally installed, patched and updated.

I started a character on the Ragnarok server, but it's not in high volume use, and I'm not really forward enough to ask perfect strangers for help, so I figured I'd just ask the perfect strangers here for help. I have a lv 10 Red Mage that I essentially had to grind to lvl 10 putting to effective use mediocre physical damage paired with mediocre status ailments. I miracled my way through the first quest, and am stuck solid on the second one. Balloons (Bombs) still just beat me to hell and back, and strangely, the Water spell does a whole 1 damage... woot?

I know that there's a way to do a world transfer, and if I knew where some people would be to help out, I'd do what I need to to get the ball rolling on that.
