So I somehow found myself looking through the FFVII info here, and all the fun materia I never had the patience to find. After a while though, I started wondering about something. I would go check it myself, except that I'd really rather not play the game again. My apologies if this has already been answered in either another topic or a section of the CoN guide I didn't look in.
But anyhow, the question: If you take multiples of a certain magic/summon/command materia and pair each of them with a support materia, either different from or identical to each other, will using that particular materia gain the effect of all of the supports, or simply one? The idea of having Comet 2 as a counter attack that gives back both HP and MP fills me with glee, but not enough so that I'd go through Disc 1 again to employ it. I have a feeling this isn't possible, as I faintly recall having tried before without success, and I imagine this has already been tried as surely I'm not the first to have thought of this possibility. Still, if anyone could answer this for me, I'd greatly appreciate it. -------------------- Bright light, shine down on bloody impurity! Hol...Pearl?? |

Yeah, it works. Granted you have to have multiple versions of the materia you want to attack those supports to, but it works.
I believe I did a Deathblow-MP Absorb, Deathblow-HP Absorb. Works well, especially for Tifa and Vincent for their 255% accuracy weapons. -------------------- Really Random Quote of the Day: "Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war." - Richard M. im getting feeling that not all of them works.
Some of them seems to work, but not all. I had comet-magic counter with comet-MP steal, but that didn't work (maybe I HP/MP doesn't steal if the spell kills the enemy? idunno) -------------------- I will be there... |

The supports only work when you actively cast the spell. So if it's a counter, then the only support that's activated is Magic Counter.
For example. Comet + HP Absorb; Comet + MP Absorb; Comet + Added Cut; etc... then Comet + Magic Counter. When you use Comet, it uses all of the supports, so it will absorb HP and MP and perform an added cut and what ever other applicable support materia you have on. Then you get hit. What is activated is not the Comet materia, but rather the Magic Counter materia, which just happens to be linked with a Comet. Questions? There will be a test on Thursday. Aha, so it does work! Awesome. The only question left then would be if multiple HP/MP Absorbs could be attached to increase the effect...but that is a much more minor detail. Thanks everyone for taking the time to satisfy my curiosity!
And I'm afraid I'm going to be absent on Thursday. Can I take a make-up exam? This post has been edited by AtmaDragoon on 5th July 2008 23:58 -------------------- Bright light, shine down on bloody impurity! Hol...Pearl?? |
