Okay, I decided to try to pick up FFT again, I always like to have some other sprites instead of the normal ones since I name them after people i know, lol.

This is what I have so far, and I THINK the abilities could work, (only one I can't remember for sure is Hamedo, but if it's in the same slot as auto potion, it'll be killed, lol) it was a while since I played, can anyone think of any way for me to improve my team?
(and I don't use the special abilities of the others, they make the game too easy, lol)

Name: Anne
sprite: Reis
job: Lancer
support job: Time Mage
abilities
auto potion
half MP
Ignore height

Name: Malachi
Sprite: Balk
job: Knight/samurai
support job priest
abilities
auto potion
hamedo
move +3

Name: Lucy
sprite: Lede
Job: Ninja
support job chemist
abilities
ignore height
auto potion

Name: Domenico
Sprite: Elmdor
Job: Summoner
Support job: Wizard
abilities
auto potion
half MP

(I'm going to be spending a little while after the first battle on the world debug getting enough JP to know these abilities, lol. At least I'm not using the sprite/base job change jobs until after I know accumulate to get the JP. ^^)

So, if anyone has any suggestions as to how I could improve my little lineup, it would be appreciated. ^^

This is all assuming you want to keep the general team setup the same.

Name: Anne
sprite: Reis
job: Lancer
support job: Time Mage
abilities
auto potion
half MP
Ignore height

Time Magic on a Lancer is actually really good. To use it to its full potential, you'll want to make sure her Faith is relatively high (80+, but don't go too high or she'll leave). Half-MP isn't that important, so you may want to swap it out for Magic DefendUP, since she'll be taking fairly high magic damage due to her high faith.

Sprite: Balk
job: Knight/samurai
support job priest
abilities
auto potion
hamedo
move +3

White Magic on a Knight/Samurai isn't very good, since those two classes have low MA stats. Time or Yin-Yang are generally better, since they depend more on faith. If you really really need healing here, just get the chemist skillset. Or stick with White, really. It won't gimp you too badly.

Hamedo is a reaction skill like Auto-Potion, so if you're dead-set on keeping AP, you'll need to find a support skill to replace it. Assuming you're mostly going to be attacking physically with this character, I'd suggest either AttackUP or Two Swords, depending on whether or not you want to use a shield.

auto potion

She'll be a ninja who can use items. Not much to say here, except that you're missing a support skill. Consider Martial Arts and forgoing weapons. You'll do much more damage.

Name: Domenico
Sprite: Elmdor
Job: Summoner
Support job: Wizard
abilities
auto potion
half MP

You'll want to make him a Wizard primary with Summon Magic secondary, since Wizard is faster and has higher MA. Other than that, you need a movement ability. Move+3 is usually the go-to skill here. Move MP-UP isn't terrible either, if your battles tend to be really long. Consider going Move MP-UP with Short Charge in place of Half-MP for faster casting.

Thank you for your words, most of the abilities were chosen by the people they were named after by seeing them on a list of abilities XD

(which is why some don't seem all too great)

Alight, I think I'll try some defence instead of halving the MP for Anne/reis.

Hm, the chemist skill set would also cost 0 MP as well, probably better, since he's not going to have white to use things like holy because of his low MA.
2 swords, how did I forget about that ability? (hits self with mallet) that is a must. pinch.gif

Oh, I didn't say all the stuff as I'm the type that changes stuff like support skills here and there, so as long as it wasn't dead set in my mind as a 'must have' ability, I didn't intend to keep it for too long, unless I forgot about it existing.

I think half MP is a good thing for a wizard/summoner, the other day in Dorter I killed 3 enemies at full health by having him use bahamut, which without half MP, he wouldn't have been able to afford. ^^

Ahh. I thought it was the other way around for the growth rates, I'll change them and look at the list in more detail, only one of these I actually got working enough is Domenico with a semi final list of abilities, curses.

Well, I rambled on long enough, I'll end this post now.
Thanks once again for the pointers A true sigma.

This question might be stupid, so please forgive me if it is. Did you use a psx and a game shark to make characters using npc/special sprites, or did you use another method. And if so, would you be able to use the Aeris sprite?

Again, my apologies if this is a 'duh' question, but I don't have a game shark, and I once had FF7 for the computer and a hacking softwear to let me cheat called The JENOVAProject, and I wondered if it was something like that.

Yeah, I'm using a gameshark, and sadly you cannot use the aeris or other sprites of people walking around during cutscenes like a random butler or NPC man or child.
(one of the first things I wanted to do for a team was have cloud and Aeris, but that was undoable.)

Well, if you own a copy of Final Fantasy Tactics, then it would be legal for you to get a ROM of it, but I won't give any links to a emuator or roms, but for a PS1 emulator, you can use 'psx Emulation cheater' (more commonly known as 'PEC') to act as a gameshark and change the sprites of people, I wouldn;t change Ramza's sprite as for event fights he has to be his proper sprite for the game to work.
(I live in England and my copy of FFT won't work on my PS1 so I had to get a rom just to be able to play it. pinch.gif)

(well, in theory you could use a hex editor on a Final Fantasy Tactics rom to change who's in your team, but I don't know for sure.)

Nah, it isn't a dumb question or anything.

Could you use just the avatar of her face then? I do have a list of the gameshark codes from a friend of mine, but I don't have a gameshark. I, like you, would LOVE having Cloud and Aeris in a team, so perhaps just having her face would work. The only other characters I'd want are Olan and the Princess. Is Teta's sprite usable, since she did appear in a battle... abiet dead. pinch.gif Perhaps Alma too, she's pretty cool.

Thanks, btw. I meant to say that early and got distracted blush.gif

not to my knowledge, I don't know of any way to simply have the avatar of someone and the sprite of someone else, I think the two are locked together with the base sprite.

Olan, teta (if you use her base job she'll always be dead in battle though) and the princess can be easily done.

example...

the character ID of Olan is 15, the char ID of the princess is 0C, Teta is 1C.

but some people that don't even appear in battle are usable, which I find odd that you can't choose aeris because of that, but only the more important NPCs that don't appear in battle are given 'proper' spritesheets.

I suppose aeris was just given a few basic sprites to be able to appear on the field.
