I am playing through FF6a for the first time and have pretty much everything done except Kefka's Tower, the new espers and I have 5 dragons lefts. My characters are about Level 47 right now, and I'm still having a hard time defeating Leviathan.

My question is, what level should I be before attempting Kefka's Tower? blush.gif

you can beat kefka at nearly any level, its not that hard. ive seen people do it at level 7. as long as you have 2 good swords, genji glove, and offering (master scroll), and some good spells, you'll be fine. also, atma/ultima weapon and valiant knife on locke is a great combination.

I suggest that you gain at least five levels, but if you find that the beasts there are easy, you can go on. You can always turn back.

There are only a couple of enemies I've ever had problems with at the tower (because spells like doom are annoying), and I was around six or seven levels higher than 47.

The first time I played through the game, I didn't focus on Esper leveling bonuses, didn't have all of the best equipment, and beat the game with only a few characters at level 45. It isn't hard at all, you're ready when you have a few hours on your hands for a long dungeon.

Kefka himself is not hard at all, and all of the bosses are also pretty easy. The only difficulty in the tower are the monsters you encounter, like the Behemoth and the Ahrimans and such. They can do lots of damage, and give you annoying status impairments. You could beat the tower with few difficulties at lvl 35, as long as you stock up on ethers and potions and come with decent equipment. If you want to ease the difficulty a bit, put 3 of your weakest characters and mog in one group, and give mog the moogle charm, which allows you to skip all the monsters and go straight to the bosses.

He's not very hard, but the tower's pretty challenging at a lower level. You should be ready for it though. Just stock up on items and equip good relics.

I just stuck with the genji glove and offering for Terra, Economizer for Celes, and he was done in about 6 rounds.

I was about level 60 with my main team and only level 40 with the others, so I'd say you have a shot. That or just stick all your crappy characters with mog and have him wear moogle charm. That way you wont encounter any enemies

Economizer makes it really easy, especially with Gem Box, and if another character has Genji Glove/Offering, it's very easy to beat the tower.

I've always tried that, but I get bored with it and give up. I normally have Sabin, Edgar, Terra, and Locke 99 by the time I start a new game.

Well it was a little boring so i tried to make it a challenge to myself, like if i didnt get Relm to lvl 99 within a time frame then no cookies or something like tht, i spent 87 hours altogether to beat everything with maxed characters

Ditto I always say I'm going to get my characters fully leveled up. Never end up doing it. Oh well I may or may not try it on the next time I play FFVI.

just make sure when ur in the WoR u have two characters with exp eggs on and fight the dinos, they should be able to take care of themselves around 40-50 so u can fight with one character and gain massive exp boost

They can be difficult even at level 70 or higher. Especially if it casts Disaster. That always gets me.

(Btw, improved jump work also if you are using Pali rolleyes.gif )

Palidor can only jump once. What's improved jumps? I think I've heard of it just before, but I can't remember.

I'm guessing he means Dragon Horns. Also, Brachiosaurs aren't so difficult if you come prepared. Ragnarok has a 50% chance of offing them, and they can be Controlled.

Yeah, but every once in a while they will cast Disaster immediately after they show up and it catches you off guard.

As far as the tower goes - just go. You'll gain some levels in there, take out a few bosses, and if you decide you can't keep going, leave. It's not a one-way dungeon.

Agreed. I must say, I just wanted everyone to have all the spells they could and the best equipment in the WoR. I spent A LOT of time roaming everywhere in the WoR looking for good equipment, but I never did get Umaro on the first try...

Has anyone tried the Cayenne (Cyan) glitch on Cefca? Would he actually hit Cefca until he died?!?!?!?!

Well, this is about to be very long, but here goes nothing...
first off, this was my party:
Locke: Lv 50
Terra: Lv 48
Relm: Lv 47
Gau: Lv 40
anyways, when I started the battle, I had Strago & Mog in place
of Locke & Gau.
Have Strago cast mighty guard & mog cast hestega repeatedly.
by the time I got to the third phase of the pillar'
strago croaked & gau came back & i had him use the chaser rage. happy.gif
when i finally go to kefka, mog died of & locke was back.
after that, I just kep hitting him with my stongest attacks
& healing when necessary. evetually i beat him. biggrin.gif
